The Simpsons Was Always Overrated as Hell.

Prime Simpsons Season 3 to 8 or 9 had impeccable comedic timing, great voice actors all over the place and frequently the stories had heart, something every show that rode on the coattails of The Simpsons never had. South Park at least carved its own path but Family Guy, American Dad? You sound like the type who'd say Pryor and Carlin are "just two old dead dudes. Check out this Youtube prank video, bro."

<DisgustingHHH>

Futurama absolutely had heart. Otherwise I agree. You never see Peter, Brian or Stewey in a scenario and feel empathy for them.

Not a good TV show. At all. It was popular in it's prime because there were no other crude cartoon comedies out there. But can The Simpsons even be considered crude? It really isn't. Shows like Family Guy and American Dad are leaps and bounds better than The Simpsons. There was simply no comedies similar to compete with The Simpsons at that time.

When Family Guy gained steam and took over, it was pretty clear what show was better. American Dad isn't too far behind it. The Simpsons isn't even on anyways radar anymore. Does it even air? Who cares.

I'm ready to get flamed by the old fawks who refuse to believe The Simpsons isn't funny. Come at me.

Watched The Simpsons growing up during the early seasons and it was entertaining but not funny. Thinking back I think it was all the yellow characters that imprints in your brain to keep watching. Stories and characters were pretty lame and shallow. Do they still make new episodes? Saw the movie out of curiousity years back and it was crap.

Just finished part one of a two part podcast on the Simpsons. And you're wrong.

I never trusted people who don't understand why prime Simpsons
is fucking great...

These Simpsons memes are golden for people who know their classic Simpsons.

family guy is a dumbed down Simpsons ripoff

I gotta say, I never really understood this critique. Other than the animation being similar, and Peter dressing like Homer, and being a dumb ass, I don't see the correlation, other than some very basic stuff.

Can someone explain the glaring similarities. I'm genuinely curious.

LOL! Peggy is such a retard it’s hilarious. I love the one where she’s writing advice articles the local paper and she recommends mixing ammonia and bleach together and Hank’s just like “oh my god, she could kill hundreds of people!”
How about when she kidnaps a couple of local Mexican kids while on a field trip in Mexico, because she doesn't understand Spanish (even though she's a Spanish teacher). Or the numerous pyramid schemes she fell trap to.

Man, Peggy was irritatingly ignorant. Same with Luanne. Infact, I don't really recall any rational, average intelligence women on that show except for Dale's wife, and she's constantly cheating on him.

It was more noticeable in the early seasons before they turned Lois into a joke.

Dumb overweight dad which the show's plotlines will focus around, smart go-getter wife that tries to teach some kind of lesson at the end. Three kids (one older brother, one older sister and a baby) and a dog. Each has a next door neighbor who uses his own style of language (diddly vs giggity). Each has a black drinking buddy who usually only shows up at the bar.

A lot of that is because the Griffins are abhorrent. The only somewhat likeable one is Meg.

The simpsons ~seasons 2-10 area great. When I see an episode from that era I literally LOL.

Seth makes funny characters but fails to make them relatable. Homer and Peter are both idiots. However Homer is a lovable idiot while Peter is just an idiot. When Homer gets separated from Marge you feel sorry for him. He needs her. They have a genuine relationship. When Peter gets separated from Lois you go thank God, what did she ever see in that jerk.
