The Sherdogger's Guide To Fish Oil Supplementation

Dude, you're a mod. Why the hell isnt this stickied yet?

+1 on the sticky.

Hey, here's an idea: READ THE FAQ. 3rd post, 3rd link from the top, right under the Seven Habits thread. It doesn't need to be stickied anymore than the rest of the informative links, as long as people read the FAQ.

Noobs.

Why don't you start it? It could be linked in the FAQ along with this thread or whatever Mike sees fit.

Meh, that's not my bag. If I had phd in biochemistry or dietetics or something, I might feel like starting threads and giving advice. But I don't, so I'll just standby and watch. I was just curious why flax oil isn't talked about around here. I thought there might have been something I was overlooking.

i put flax seeds in my dogs food :)

but thanks for the info on fish oil TS

and on a side note.. i'm in this thread because i tried to quote someone(twice) in entirely different thread, and kept getting escorted here.. anyone else have that happen? weird stuff

cheers

I put it in my mouse feed. Granted, it's not the greatest conversion rate, especially when you consider that it has to go from the flax to the mice, mice to the cats, and cats to me. However, I enjoy the taste of cats, so it works for me. I'm not Korean, so I haven't tried the whole flax seeds in puppy chow for omega-3 fortified dogs yet.

good read, i just started taking fish oil for about 2 weeks and all i ever heard about it was it was good for your heart, and since im pretty young i didnt know if it was really that important

We actually have discussed it before, just not as much as fish oil. Most of us here take fish oil so it's usually discussed more.

vey informative post. i have been taking an omega complex supplement for a long time but now i know why.

Right. I know that. But why only take fish oil? Why not fish oil and flax?

I don't know, personally I take both (fish oil and ground flaxseed), ideally I would recommend most people take both but if cost becomes an issue then people are left to make up their own minds. Again, I would recommend fish oil if they had to choose only one, but some people will choose flax or a mixed oil blend like Udo's. Other factors come into play as well, people who are vegans will take flax, we have a member here who is allergic to fish so he takes flax, my wife is so anti fish and seafood that she takes flax. etc. etc.

Good post. I take that shit everyday. I love when you burp and can taste that nasty ass fish oil.

What in the fuck are you talking about??? ^^^^^^^ is that some kind of a riddle?

So thats why my popplers are so high in omega-3.

I recently bought my first fish oil capsules so this thread is very helpful.

Distillation is not mentioned on the bottle. How bad is that?

I bit into it and it tastes like fish. Gross, but reassuring.

My bread says that each slice contains 0.7 g of Omega 3. I guess most of it is flax based, so a sandwich doesn't make 3g of EPA/DHA.

edit: I spit the empty fish oil capsule into the garbage, and just now the cat jumped in. There must be over a billion of my sperm in that garbage. Fortunately she's recently spayed.

I take fish oil, and I use Udo' Oil Blend (two table spoons a day). JB recommends both.

thanks for the thread, I recently started taking fish oil, and was following the recommended dose on the bottle (3 daily of 180/120)
so +1 for the increased dosage knowledge

Thanks for the thorough detailing of the contents of your garbage can.

Fuck this fish oil pop up bullshit. Sherdog is really pissing me off!!!

If this becomes everyday practice I'll check out of this forum. Total bullshit!!!

Okie dokes

I don't think I ever had this problem. Maybe firefox owns?
