The Sega Dreamcast

I didn’t have a Dreamcast. I loved my Sega Saturn but figured the Dreamcast was doomed and passed on it.

I always kind of find it odd how much love it gets. I mean it really didn’t get very many games.

Definitely underappreciated, I never had it myself but a couple of my friends growing up had one and I always enjoyed it.

Power Stone
Soul Caliber
Crazy Taxi
Marvel Vs Capcom
Virtua Tennis

Just some games that come to mind

I highly suggested getting a Dreamcast rn, they can automatically play bootleg games so after a few quick tutorials you can easily access lots of the hidden gems the system has to offer. It also plays retro emulators really well (Snes, NES, Genesis, etc). I bought one years ago and still use it from time to time

I still have one setup and quite a few if not all the games I had at release

I've still got my black Sega sports edition Dreamcast. Great console and was quite innovative at the time with it being the first console to go online

I always felt that it was almost a great console.

I was obsessed with Shenmue 1 & 2, Street fighter III 3rd Strike and fire Pro Wrestling D but aside from those games there wasn't much that interested me.

If Sega had made 3D version of Streets of Rage and Golden Axe that might have changed it but very few games on it really appealed to me.

Was there for 9/9/99

Code Veronica
Jet Grind Radio
Power Stone
Soul Calibur 1/2
NFL 2K series
NBA 2K series
Shenmue
Vigilante 8
Hydro Thunder
Ready 2 Rumble
Sonic Adventure 1/2
Crazy Taxi 1/2
Marvel vs Capcom
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1/2
House of the Dead 2
Soul Reaver
UFC

All in my library, all bangers, and even if they weren’t exclusive they were still typically far and above the best versions of the games. Loved the VMU, even if the battery wasn’t great. One of my favorite consoles.

It could have been good but the library was very weak. Better than the Atari Jaguar though i guess.
Spoken like someone who has never actually owned a Sega Dreamcast.

The library for the Dreamcast is excellent. Tons of good games, especially if you like arcade ports.

I own a Dreamcast and am a fan or arcade games. I haven't changed my opinion. There currently exists only one single Dreamcast game worth playing for me (Fire Pro Wrestling D). Every other Dreamcast game i like is available in better form on some other system.

Game library isn't why the DC failed.

No regrets, hate the pads, love Shen Mue 1&2 and PSO 1&2. First time I seen Sonic Adventure after playing like 36 chambers
On the PS1 I thought the graphics were unbelievable.

Sega did so much right with the DC. Great launch price, the GOAT launch lineup, easy to develop for, massively successful launch...but then people stopped caring the closer and closer we got to the PS2 coming out.

This was fun in high school
