They've done a good job. Having source material that is an absolute Masterpiece is gonna be real tough for any tv or film adaptation, but they clearly put a ton of work into this thing... and it shows. I never would have guessed you could find a person that really just sort of looks like Morpheus, but by god Tom Sturridge fits the damn bill. They really really needed to cast that character well or the whole thing would have fallen apart.

Never read the sauce but I'm digging it so far.

Brienne is nailing it as Lucifer.

Episode 6 may be my favorite episode of any show I've ever seen. A combo of two beloved stories, the introductions of Death and Hob Gadling. They pulled off combining the tales seamlessly.

At seven episodes in the only thing that bugs me is how they showed no respect for Lucien at all, the beloved librarian, but I guess that is just a sign of the times, and only a minor misstep. I was thinking earlier that after all of the failed adaptations, all of the false starts, plans for movies and TV series and whatnot, they got it right. This show could have very easily been a dud, as it had big shoes to fill, but it turned out to be pretty brilliant.

The intro to Death was outstanding.

The best episode by far was the death episode n the dude that didn't die. Would of liked this more if it didn't go out of its way to be as woke as it could. I csn handle wokeness in shows (got no choice really these days) . But when a show literally goes to the lengths this did it takes away from the show imo.. that said I hope there is a season 2

Apparently, the John Constantine/Johanna Constantine situation is due to some copyright bs thanks to JJ Abrams.

Though the other Johana who appears in episode 6 is somewhat accurate to the comic Sandman lore.

Damn. Good to know, replacing John with Johanna in modern times was pretty much the only thing I rolled my eyes for. Changing "race" of characters that were not human didn't bother as such, especially since they showed that human perception of them could differ. In other cases it wasn't that big of deal.

Based on what I remember of the original comics, this seemed to be pretty faithful adaptation. I liked it.

is she? she's got a terribly puffy face. the original drawing is more of a david bowie cocaine skinny type.

Watched the first three episodes. The pilot was shaky, but it's been getting better. Certainly not up to extremely high standards of the comic, but not terrible.

I would be interested to know what people who aren't familiar with the source material think, though. I can't imagine it being the easiest thing to digest.

Does anyone else think casting Patton Oswalt as Matthew was a mistake? I think his voice detracts from the gravitas of this show.

Episode 5 was... weird to say the least.

I have no familiarity with the source material but am enjoying this so far. I like that it's making bold choices.

Finished
Great product, but affected by netflix

Solid 7/10

Just finished the show. Thought it was good and I know nothing about it going in. The 1 star google reviews I read were a good read about the wokeness, racism and the LGBTQ lol.

On the diner episode, David Thewlis captivating as always.

I have only read some of the Sandman books a few years ago and I've forgotten most of the story.

Really enjoying this in general, the casting, visuals, atmosphere etc very well made imo.

I watched the first episode and was immensely bored. There are a lot of teh gheys in this, out of interest, is that part of the source material?

I'll try again after jerking off - maybe that will help with my sexual frustration.

I watched it today and wow, it's good! I think despite the small changes it managed to capture the spirit of the comics really well and did it justice imo. Chapter 6 really smashed it.

I’m really trying and I was getting into it, but the overwhelming gay stuff made me realize that this show is just a fantasy Version of the L Word. Even the straight characters turn gay.

I'm not even against gay and was turned off by it. Stopped during the third episode I think when the doctors assistant was talking about her lesbian relationship. At the time I was like "ugh I guess everything's gonna be gay, don't got time for that right now"

I'll defo pick it up again soon but all that stuff takes me out of the story cause it's obviously there for some kind of metric.
