Television THE SANDMAN TV Series (Season 2 Premieres July 3, 2025)

Two episodes in and it's pretty good so far. Tom Sturridge seems like a good Morpheus.

Probably it is intentional for artistic purposes but I hate how dark the lighting for the show is or how dark the color grading is.
They've done a good job. Having source material that is an absolute Masterpiece is gonna be real tough for any tv or film adaptation, but they clearly put a ton of work into this thing... and it shows. I never would have guessed you could find a person that really just sort of looks like Morpheus, but by god Tom Sturridge fits the damn bill. They really really needed to cast that character well or the whole thing would have fallen apart.

I watched the 1st episode and thought it was done well, especially with Charles Dance. But, I have been burned before with these types of shows. So, I skipped to the last episode to see where things were going, and it had Brienne of Tarth playing some devil character, poorly btw, and speaking to some cartoonish looking demon in some really wooden dialogue. Very cringeworthy stuff. Hard pass.

Paraphrasing one of my favorite quotes:

What you've written here is one of the worst posts I've ever read, and I read my own posts.

Have to check this out when I have the time

Kind of like Katee Sackhoff, if I see Gwendoline Christie I know some real nerdy shit is going down. More than I am comfortable with. Seeing her standing there with wings and talking to a group of demons speaking through a dimensional tear or whatever sealed it for me.

Didnt find the Morpheus character compelling. The only thing interesting in the pilot was Dance, and well, that was short lived. Dont care about the dream realm or its charisma vacuum of a main character.

I think the Gaiman loyalists will keep it afloat for 2 seasons and then it will get cancelled for its high budget and inability to attract new people like myself who dont read his books.

Well, you should do yourself a favor and read those books, because the actual comic series is a masterpiece beyond anything they had hope of capturing on screen. And as for the show, well, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya lol.

Episode 6 may be my favorite episode of any show I've ever seen. A combo of two beloved stories, the introductions of Death and Hob Gadling. They pulled off combining the tales seamlessly.

At seven episodes in the only thing that bugs me is how they showed no respect for Lucien at all, the beloved librarian, but I guess that is just a sign of the times, and only a minor misstep. I was thinking earlier that after all of the failed adaptations, all of the false starts, plans for movies and TV series and whatnot, they got it right. This show could have very easily been a dud, as it had big shoes to fill, but it turned out to be pretty brilliant.

Only 2 episodes in and I like it so far. Wish Dream was a bit taller and had black eyes but he plays the part well.

I wished they would have given Mathew a different voice and kept John Constatine

Nah, has wiener kid energy.

The only Gaiman books I've read were American Gods, which I thought was OK but nothing special, and Bad Omens, which he co-wrote with one of my favourite authors, the late Sir Terry Pratchett.

Sandman doesn't interest me, so I'll give this one a pass.

Sandman is leagues, orders of magnitude, above his other work. It's a straight up masterpiece.

The only Sandman story I can recall reading is the one with the serial killer's convention. Interesting and creepy AF, but it didn't make me want to read the rest of the series.

Fair enough, but you're missing out
Three Septembers and a January is my favorite story in there and I think you'd like it
