Blaming the media for reporting the stories, revealing many of the lies and chasing down the truth, is absurd. Unless you're referring to social media platforms, which are an actual culprit.

A call to national unity against a external enemy.

That will never happen though, because there is no political victor, or advertising dollars to be made from national unity.
