No one denies the fact that Woodley is a phenomenal fighter. He has a great record, won the title fair and square and you'd have to be a nut to deny his physical attributes (explosive power, speed, athleticism, great wrestling, etc).

The reason he's hated is simple. He reminds us of all the bullshit athletes that encompass sports like football, basketball and baseball.
- The canned, phony answers
- The fake laughter and overt "jock-ism"
- The constant whining when he doesn't get his way
- The calls for "money fights", when no one wants to see him fight, then the complaints when he can't understand why. Dude, you don't fight, even when you have the obvious advantage! You're fighting to not lose, instead of fighting to win! Some will say he's fighting smart, but GSP fought "smart", strategically and didn't have an exciting style. He can still fight to win, and not be the most exciting fighter.

Tyron comes across as a phony whiner, which is made worse by the fact that he actually is a great fighter. I've always felt like we don't know who the real Tyron is. Or maybe he's just developed himself into that phony BS athlete stereotype to the point that he believes it and cannot separate the myth from the man.

I don't hate Woodley.

I respect Woodley.
- Champion-mindset
- Keen analyst, insightful
- Integrity, Has a spine and stands for his
- Dedication to the sport
- Honest

Ya, he's the only fighter to talk about money fights bro!

No other fighters are jocks bro!

Not sure why he talks about race, because RACISM OBVIOUSLY DOESNT EXIST, as so beautifully illustrated in EVERY Tyron thread ever bro!

This thread seems legit!

Speak for yourself. I don’t hate Woodley.

I’m not a fan but it takes a whole lot for me to hate some athlete I’ve never met before

He is not entertaining both inside and outside the cage and people watch MMA to entertain

Completely disagree. He is great commentator. And a great fighter.

If you can't appreciate him, you may not really be a fan of the sport.

I dont say he is not great at anything but he is not entertaining to me and I am not a fan of anything I just like the sport

Well he did get ragdolled by Khabib and TKO'd by Gaethje, so all this talk of not being respected enough has got to go.

I like him for all these reasons, and I am gonna add a couple more.

I've never heard him make an excuse for any of his losses, just gives the other person credit for showing up ready to fight.

During his 'boring' fights I can literally see Dana's blood pressure rise, it is not often that we can see Dana squirm with discomfort. I enjoy that.

I thought it was funny when he made a beat to the people booing him at the NYC press conference.

I thought it was funny when he told Conor to 'pack a lunch, we're hitting way harder up here' when Conor said he was coming for 'all the belts'.

He talks about Conor's skills with respect and says that he sees things he would like to implement into his own game. Stays respectful instead of jealous of a skilled striker who is smaller than him making way more money.

He signs on to defend against top contenders.

I think the race card is actually brought up more on here and in YouTube comments and social media by others than it is ever really brought up by him. I think he brings it up sometimes as a joke because he thinks it's funny, but everyone takes him so serious that they get their racial panties in a wad, which he also probably thinks is funny.

Woodley vs Maia was a thing of beauty.
A takedown clinic against arguably the best grappler in Woodley's weight class.
Was not expecting that.

All my info oh him comes from these forums, so as far I as can tell, he's always whining.

Don't hate the guy, but he's not a fan favorite.

People hate him because he gives off an aura of entitlement that a lot if people don't think he's earned. Also, race is an uncomfortable subject for a lot if Americans fans, and because of that people don't like anyone that brings up the topic of race when they feel it's unnecessary.

I'm truly a fan of him though. If you ignore all that other stuff, he's a good likeable guy. He promotes himself, he's outspoken (As well as WELL spoken :) ), he contributes to his community, he's a great father, and a nice guy. He's DEFINITELY not someone that's fake. He's actually one of the more geniune and authentic guys in the sport. He says what's on his mind even if people don't like it. No idea where you get the idea that he's phoney.

If the Woodley that fought Lawler (and Condit) was the Woodley we always got, he wouldn't be hated at all. (except by the KKK part of the fanbase)

The fact he fights so passively annoys the shit out of many people. He's ridiculously talented but he's so terrified of losing, he tries to win by doing as little as possible. At least when Anderson was at that shit, he had a sense of humor about it and did some funny shit.

He's got awesome TDD and overall wrestling, very good kickboxing for a wrestler, crazy athleticism and power, solid cardio and a good chin and yet he fights like he has none of these tools and needs the cage as a security blanket.

Fan or not, let’s remember when Woodley didn’t take a cut of Gastelums purse when he missed weight. Not many if any fighters would do that.

Woodley is a great fighter, he just sounds like a teenage female.

Agreed. He didn't do himself any favors with his recent fights.

But overall, he's a great fighter, and seems like a genuinely good guy.

Impartial but I do enjoy the butthurt after he wins.

And every other fighter that tries to forgo contenders in favor of "money fights" gets just as much criticism as Woodley.
