No one denies the fact that Woodley is a phenomenal fighter. He has a great record, won the title fair and square and you'd have to be a nut to deny his physical attributes (explosive power, speed, athleticism, great wrestling, etc).
The reason he's hated is simple. He reminds us of all the bullshit athletes that encompass sports like football, basketball and baseball.
- The canned, phony answers
- The fake laughter and overt "jock-ism"
- The constant whining when he doesn't get his way
- The calls for "money fights", when no one wants to see him fight, then the complaints when he can't understand why. Dude, you don't fight, even when you have the obvious advantage! You're fighting to not lose, instead of fighting to win! Some will say he's fighting smart, but GSP fought "smart", strategically and didn't have an exciting style. He can still fight to win, and not be the most exciting fighter.
Tyron comes across as a phony whiner, which is made worse by the fact that he actually is a great fighter. I've always felt like we don't know who the real Tyron is. Or maybe he's just developed himself into that phony BS athlete stereotype to the point that he believes it and cannot separate the myth from the man.
