Economy The quiet recession - are we in it already?

We are going to have those creepy chinese warehouses that are so automated that the robots dont even need the lights on they work in the dark.

I mean it's kind of inevitable

Plus when you take into account the AI boom, yeah it's not looking to bright. Either AI turns out to be a bust and our economy crashes or AI turns out to be amazing and replaces workers, leading to a recession.

Well I guess there's a third AI path too and that's is if it kills us all but tbh no one seems to care about that one

The thing that is scary is how many companies are letting go of people with the hopes of replacing them with Ai. Who it works out for remains to be seen...

(The extremely wealthy.)

The Trump admin has done its best to torpedo the economy.
Tried its best to remove worker and consumer rights and protections.
But he made it ok to be racist again and gave low iq incel idiots a sense of power again. So despite Trump doing his best to fuck over the middle class and poor people they will still applaud him because their perceived enemies suffer. And that is what Trump is about. Hatred and grievance.

In other words, he's trying to return America to the shit hole that it was prior to WWII when the ultra-rich 0.1% owned 25%+ of all the wealth in the country, minorities were treated like subhuman garbage, and everybody else was paid slave wages in slave conditions with no recourse.

And he's convinced half the morons in this country that that was the time America was "Great".

I'm retired, so I don't have to worry about employment. All I know is my IRA earned over $600k this year, far more than I'm taking out. Hard to complain personally, but I'd be concerned about the future if I were younger.

The industry / area I am in is doing great.

I imagine some areas in America are doing well and some are slowing down, same with industries.

I don't think we are in a nationwide recession yet.

Nice humble brag :) .

Not a bad take, but always keep in mind the adage you ask 5 economists a question you get 6 different answers.

Or what Varoufakis says, economists are the priests of our time.

Which Fortune 500 Ceo is an open genetic racist? What movie star? What famous athlete?

Our younger generation have nothing. They can't accumulate assets. Homebuyers median age is like 60. Wealth disparity is only getting worse. We are cooked.
