THE question for loyal Conor fans: Is Conor truly motivated for one more run?

@JustOnce I've thought about this quite a bit myself, So I Appreciate you articulating that thought this thread.

But the thruth is, Only conor knows and only he can prove it to us. If he loses, while fighting his heart out, I'll believe it. Even if he doesn't win.

Been a fan since the beginning. Dude is fucking done. I actually think him doing the rematch with poirier shows he’s not motivated, he’s cashing out. He should work his way back up, maybe fight some one right outside the top 5, then one of the top guys and then a title fight (if he won the fights obviously)
The problem with all that is, the ufc wont put conor on a card unless it's the headline on a ppv. they would never put a conor fight in a prelim or a 3 round fight on a main card. Or even a main event on an ESPN card. it would never happen.

It sure doesn't look good atm. Conor still isn't in camp but he's vacationing in Dubai still. WTF.

honestly from what ive seen the last couple years, probably not. and this is coming from a nuthugger.

he COULD, hes still young enough and has all the skills, but he clearly doesnt have the same hunger he did coming up.

as a fan its such a shame that he wasted all of these prime years, but he also made a retarded amount of money from other shit between all these fights so i get it.

He seems to have a spending habit too. So he could piss away all the money he has in a short period of time and then have no retirement.

It's like Conor fans can't fathom that even motivated Conor can get his ass whooped lol wasn't he on top of the world and motivated to be the best fighter before the first Diaz fight? He wasn't hungry and motivated to reach the top of the sport when Joe Duffy choked him out?

Motivated non motivated he's simply not the best or really even close to it. Fax. Sorry guys.

Let's be honest Conor used his mouth to get title shots and fights he didn't deserve, which allowed him to get a tanker full of cash, good for him. His fans will never see him for what he really is, a fighter that never really lived up to the potential. If Conor would of stayed focused on MMA and not all the crap he got into, maybe he would of evolved as a fighter and been a long time champ. We will never really know because instead he created a circus and got trapped in his own ego.
Well put. Zero title defenses says all you need to know about the McGregor circus era...

In my opinion, he's a victim of his own hype. Conor was a talented fighter with great potential. But the UFC gave him the easiest, fastest track to a title (i.e., in a division full of wrestlers, they gave him favorable matchups against all strikers); gave him an instant shot at the LW title, despite losing to gatekeeper Nate; and promoted the Mayweather charade. This "success" both: (1) filled his bank account; and (2) convinced him that he's much better than he actually was. The end result was Conor chasing the money and living the high life rather than improving as a fighter.

At this point, it doesn't matter if he's "motivated." He may still win a few big fights, but he'll never fully develop into the fighter he could have been. That ship has sailed.

Mentally he still wants it. But he isn't hungry anymore and I think the family life made him less aggressive. That could also be to his recent losses changing his aura as a fighter, but I also think the family man and comfortable Conor also plays a role in that. To me it always seemed like what happened in Rocky 3. That's the part that Conor is in with his career right now, we'll see if he can finish strong like in the movies and win the trilogy.

Doesn't seem like he's training like he used to or push himself as hard. He seems to mentally break a lot quicker in his fights. He was more durable before and now he starts folding once the fight starts to slip from him. He used to smile and laugh when he got hit and now he looks worried about getting stopped every time he gets hit hard.

I think you are being unfair to Dustin here. Peak Connor was probably better than current Dustin but not by much.

The whooping Dustin gave him is s much down to Dustin improving as McGregor regressing. Dustin is now at his peak and while I don't think he's at peak McG level he's close.

Connor has a punchers chance in the trilogy but only that.

Years if being a muppet have caught up on him and while he still has the hands to best anyone on his night, he hasn't the heart, hunger nor ability to do it consistently enough to win and defend a title

Have you ever trained or fought? He may think he is motivated, but when the pain is there, when he can't breath, legs are stiff and heavy, he just quits. He is done. And I admired him.

Conor's social media account posting advertisements for his whiskey doesn't mean he isn't training right now.

He’s not at his best anymore and he isn’t in a weight class where he was ever the best (or if he was it was for a very brief period of time).

And no, he isn’t motivated anymore. I think he’s definitely a great fighter and he’s a legitimate top 10 lightweight. So he’s got a chance, but I expect Poirier to knock his head off again.

Young enough? Guy looks like he's in his mid 40's already and no he doesn't have the skills, hungry or not. Fighting undersized manlets at FW isn't the same ballpark as LW.

LW Dustin K'sTFO Conor 10/10.

Times flies and it feels like yesterday hearing about this Irish guy with interesting record coming into the UFC. I couldn't foresee that he'd be the richest MMA fighter of all time really.

Though I've followed Conor's career, which has been pretty interesting, I can't say I really have been a big fan of his. I thought he'd lose to Mendes and Aldo, in fights I thought that could've gone either way. I knew though he would wipe the floor with Eddie, lul look at all the noobs who flamed me then (https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/conor-will-destroy-alvarez.3332079/)

Personally, I don't think Dustin is in Conor's league. Prime for prime, in my opinion, Dustin doesn't even come close to what Conor is. I think Conor at 50 percent is much superior to Dustin at any stage in his career. But it's not necessarily a knock against Dustin. He's a great fighter, just like Eddie is. But it's about match ups, and I feel like if God created the fighter to wipe the floor with someone like Eddie and Dustin, it's Conor.

Yes, he did lost to Poirier, but to me, the loss had more to do with how much Conor declined than anything else, with all due respect to Dustin, and all the credit in the world to him for a upset win that rivals Serra over GSP, GG over Crocop in my book. I think Khabib said it right, that no man can have two primes in his career and Conor most likely ruined himself for all the bs that he did outside fighting, while completely overlooking Dustin going into that fight.

Dustin ate Conor's shots flush and it didn't look like it even phased him much. Dustin looks bigger at lightweight, and cardio edge is always going to be on Poirier's side, and so will be striking volume. I'm not even sure Conor can put Poirier out at lightweight anymore. Poirier's defense improved tremendously, and it looks like he can take better shots with added weight.

You may be thinking that I don't like Poirier, but in fact, Poirier has really everything I like in a fighter. Aggressive, tough, all heart, well rounded, can do it all. He is a world class indeed, but prime for prime, I just think he's a miles and miles beneath Conor in my opinion, it's all about match ups you see, I see Edgar being a tougher match up for Conor at FW than for Poirier for example, but that Conor likely is long dead and gone.

At this point, Conor looks like he's just running his mouth online while he's still vacationing in Dubai with his family while taking photos in the gym with very green fighters and going for a run and hanging out with his kids, all the while promoting his booze business, whereas Dustin is already 110 percent working hard in camp. And it looks to me Conor declined to a point where half-ass training for trilogy will lead to bigger ass-whooping by Poirier.

The question I have for the loyal fans of Conor on Sherdog is, if you have followed Conor intently throughout his career, like he has books and movies out and shit none of which interest me, do you think mentally, he still has desire to compete or is he just coming into cash in for one last time because he sure looks like he is giving no fuck about winning the trilogy against Dustin while acting like he cares online?

So Conor fans, do you think Conor is coming in for one last paycheck and promoting his nonsense Fast program, or is he really coming to fight?
iu

so dustin gets wobbled in the first and says in the post fight presser that he was hurt and another clean one would have been trouble....
conor was ktfo you don't need to embellish the victory lol.

this shows that the fight could be decided on 1 punch.
