There is still no guarantee that the fighter accepts the replacement fight. Then, if you have wording in the contracts that they have to accept the replacement fight, fighters will have to prepare for 2, maybe 3, different fighters. It just makes no sense.

Also, on a different note, if you pay fighters for not accepting replacement fights, then no fighter will ever accept a replacement. They’d rather take the pay and not fight than fight a replacement.

Yes it really is dumb if a champ is training for a guy then all of a sudden the dude is replaced a week before the fight and guess what, he's been training for you bro

Fighters need to stop pulling out. I don't pull out of my Twitter fights.

Yeah, like back in the day when guys used to fight 2-3 different fighters in one night. The GOAT era of fighting.

Yup. Back when fighters prepared for all comers.

Even in PRIDE, there were several occasions when fights weren’t made until a week or two until the event.

UFC fighters are babies

Pride fighters will fight anyone, any time. you don't even need to tell them at all. They just let them find out when they walk to the ring

Okay Mr Lawyer - Dana can have an oral or written agreement (including $) with a replacement fighter before a pull out. He doesn’t need to wait for the actual pull out. Also bet your ass that if your name isn’t Conor or Lesnar, White will fuck you over in the future if you agree to a fight (including $) and you try and get more after the pull out.

Preparing for different opponents is a problem for the fighter.

That was usual.

Bellator dudes mostly sign fight contracts without knowing who they’re facing according to Mittrione.

This is "Mixed Martial Arts." Every fighter should be prepared to fight anyone at any time in their division or piss off. You have Boxing, Wrestling, BJJ and Muay Thai as the dominant forms. You should be preparing in all these areas. No more of these bullshit excuses!!!!

If one fighter pulls out and UFC manages to find a replacement, the other fighter can either opt to fight and get paid, or refuse and get paid nothing.
If one fighter pulls out and the UFC cannot find a replacement or rebook the fight within a month, the other fighter can weigh in and get show money.

The UFC assumes the risk of losing money on promotion and PPV sales when fighters pull out, similarly the fighters either assume the risk of late notice replacement or the can withdraw and don't get paid when their opponents pull out. Seems 100% fair to me.
