As young men we all seek glory and each finds it to varying degree. But seeking glory is a young man's game and the curse of those who find it in a large degree is that they can't let it go. It is such a high that they can't even contemplate a life without it and they spend the rest of their lives trying to attain the heights they once climbed, despite having lost the ability to do so.
Conor can ride off into the sunset. He has lots of money, a wife who has been with him since the beginning, kids, and plenty of opportunities to give back. The biggest danger to him is that like an addict, he can't get the taste of glory out of his mouth, and he continues to seek it to self-destruction.
