A lot of detail is lost in the bright areas of those photos.3rd is the worst in this aspect, but the proiblem is present on all of them. I think the 3rd picture also has the most potential to be good since it doesnt show the flower exactly how I would see it just looking down on it. Also the bokeh effect is there.
Were those shot on a phone?

Yes. I was also being swarmed by ravenous mosquitoes so I was trying to be quick LOL. I will see what else I can do with that third one to get more out of it.

First mirrorless. Loving the lightweight. Bought 40-300mm lens to but think this camera is best for Street and Macros than birding, sport or Landscape.

Actually the main appeal of m43 to me would be telephoto work, I have considered selling off my 300mm F/2.8 and buying something like a used Panasonic G9 and 100-400mm with the higher pixel density(80 MP FF equivalent).

Yes, this is better. No detail lost. Foreground and background are separated nicely.
You need to experiment more with focus and composition, don't rush the process and take your time. If you find an object you like and have time, try shooting it from different angles and focus on different parts of it. For example with this flower focusing on the point of its pestle could have been interesting.

I took this for the mushroom thread, but I think it turned out quite well, all things considered.

This may seem to you all as a lousy picture, but there is this painting effect--I didn't apply any filter though I did use HDR and apparently a digital zoom--and I think it looks pretty cool. This is from the Table Lands in Gros Morne, with Gros Morne itself in the back left of center.

Do your worst, sherbros. I need to know if I have fucked up perceptions of what is cool or not.

Including him in the photo was inadvertent but the way the guy seems to take on the same shape as the trees while he takes a picture interested me. It's a blown up crop from imgur, so I know it's far from perfect, but what say you, interesting at all? And yeah, to answer your burning question, we took a trip to Gros Morne National Park and I took a ton of pics. These are just samples to whet the appetite as I go through them for the gems. I hope to post some much better ones when I get to them.

Cropped in that the upper flower is removed, putting all the attention on the lower one. But while looking at it a second time, I've had a brainwave. Stand by.

for the record, I believe the first pic that I didn't crop at all is the better of them, but here goes making the best of the latter one,

I'm not sure how interesting it is to everyone else that the focal point appears to be the surface of the water on the left-most petals, but again, I'd say it is. On the other hand, that first picture is a perfect example of what I mean by having it turn out without having to edit it. I would accept suggestions because I know I'm a newb, but to my eye it's about as good as it could be.

Edit: on second thought, it could benefit from the top half being removed as well, but I'm not certain about that.

Leaving aside the redundancy of "both are identical", which I mention only for the LOLs, there is a minor difference. I concede the difference may be so minor as to be not worth it at all, so I'll cop to that anyway.

I'd like to think I could have taken more time and gotten something better in any event, but I wasn't alone and couldn't so I am just shooting for the best I can do with it under the circumstances. Any suggestions along that line or comments on the other pics?
