Movies The Odyssey (2026) - First Trailer

Not saying it makes any sense to complain about it in this kind of movie but like I said, I'm a dork.
I feel you! I get angry about shit writing mostly aswell. I was questioning chat gpt for instance how it's possible that 4 kids could overpower a "Devourer of worlds" after drunk watching IT couple days ago.

Eh, it looks pretty epic, not gonna lie. I really do want to check it out in theaters because it's entirely shot in IMAX, but isn't this gonna be nearly 3 hours long? I don't think I want to sit in the theater for that long, lol.

I think the person in the cool helmet is some type of God/demigod

Trailer was good. Didn’t give away much or show the best parts
Most likely Agamemnon. For a few seconds you see Jon Bernthal on the left, who is playing Menelaos, who is Agamemnon's brother.

I think it looks promising. Nolan usually delivers with very few exceptions. Looking forward to it.

Also what's with people complaining about "wrong" helmets? It's greek mythology. Legends. Stories. Folklore. This movie is Nolan's interpretation of it. This can't and won't be a history channel documentary.

I don’t think Nolan is the right choice for this. He’s going to try and downplay the fantasy element of this by making it too dark and making it more like a sci-fi. Even that creature in the trailer looked more alien than something from Greek mythology. Maybe when they get close it the creature it’s actually just some really tall man casting a big shadow. I hope not but I don’t trust him to fully embrace all of the weirdness that is Greek mythology

Knowing Nolan. This will be an emptier, soulless, darker, more boring version of Troy, with large, empty set peices, horrible fight scenes, extremely loud bass heavy music with the dialogue on volume 1.

I'm sure we'll all be in awe of the cinematography though..

Yawn.

Considering Troy was trash and directed by a mediocre director… he can do way better.

Love the story (both Iliad and odyssey) so I’ll give it a try. I don’t keep tabs on stuff like this cause I don’t want my expectations to be influenced prior to viewing.

Darker, heck yeah. they should have kept the baby killing in Troy 2004 in the theatrical cut.<codychoke>

The first thing that popped in my head when I saw the trailer

2h and 40 minutes. 3h is the maximum absolute for IMAX runtimes.

Lols,

This generation is like “please just release it on Netflix as six easy episodes of 30min each so I can pay attention”

And here we go.

What are your expectations for this? I didn't like Tenet but loved Oppenheimer so i think Nolan's return has already happened, good faith in this film.

The costumes do indeed look ugly as fuck.

Not because they’re historically inaccurate or any such nonsense, but because they are colorless, featureless and absolutely lacking in any individual characteristic.

Hard to really tell much of anything. All these medieval period piece flicks all start to look the same after a while. Could easily be a trailer for "Troy 2".

Interested to see what Nolan does with it, though.

They did not screen Five Nights at Freddys that way so there is hope.
