From when I first heard about this, I was stoked. However, from the trailer, it looks like they fucked it up. He's not actually supposed to be good at what he does. Damn it, why does every new movie have to look like it's going to suck?!?!?!?!?!

You're absolutely right - what the fuck is this? It's like making a Mr. Magoo remake, but he can see and has bad luck.

Also, Frank is a detective, he isn't some counter-terrorism badass.

2 boo-urnses out of 4 for me. This is gonna suck.

From the first gag, it's so off. A grown man disguising himself as a little girl to infiltrate a hostage situation or whatever, could be funny in the right hands. In this, it's literally a little girl that he CGI morphs out of. It's barely even a gag. It's like a 90's CGI tech demo.
And Neeson is just the wrong guy. He can play the serious guy who thinks he is funny but is not but he has zero goofy acting skills to make his character silly in a fun way. TOns of other talent out there that is capable of doing that but not Neeson.

But the main problem is the writers dont even get their own supposed "jokes" like what you wrote it about the CGI scene. They execute scenes without any comedic timing. Will be horrible. Also Neeson is way older than even Nielsen was back then and it shows.

Easy pass.
Finally, someone gets it!

This "hard pass" expression tells me it's hard to pass up, but I have to..

Easy pass should be the expression cuz you dont need to spend one moment in deciding passing it up.

I was going to be optimistic but then I saw Seth McFarlane's name.

Fuck that unfunny unoriginal douche.
I like mcfarlane but hes only producing it.

They have NO writers from the naked gun movies, whom are the same as airplanes.

Looking like a no from me dawg...

Saw the OG in theaters.

Fun franchise. But the last one ruined Anna Nicole Smith for me :(

I think it’s a hard pass bc there is no discussion on it. It’s a hard and final answer. Maybe it should be a hard no and an easy pass??

Leave it to the modern age to make the original film, wherein the lead staggers around with a concrete dildo, seem classy & high-minded.

I actually had my hopes up for this, as Liam Neeson has the comedy chops to crush a quality remake or sequel.

This ain't it. From the opening seconds where it said 'Seth MacFarlane', I knew we were fooked. Too bad.
Yep by that you know they wont get how much of the originals comedy was built on word play / dialog . Someone like Stephen Merchant might have done a decent remake putting in that nuanced self deprecating whitty humour without realizing it. Most american writers cant do it esp. Seth because its all about boosting.

I expect Frank to be a real supercop (completely missing the point of his character) that is considered funny because the storywriters tell us via side characters. Also the way Neeson moves reminds me of CGI De NIro at his worst.

the funniest beatdown ever <lmao>

Liam Neeson is a great choice (liek Leslie Nielsen he is largely known as a dramatic actor that can deadpan deal goofy lines), but the trailer was pretty disappointing, a few good jokes (like the line of cops kneeling in front of their fathers' pictures), but the style just feels wrong and it visually looks like every other damn movie out there. I'm pretty sick of so many movies looking alike, there's a real lack of individual style and identity in so much of the film landscape these days.
