This. I never "met" him but he did hand me a beer and a guitar pick from the stage at a concert.
 
Maybe Shane Warne who just passed away, one of our greatest cricketers ever. Huge reaction to his death here, would be equivalent to Jordan dying in the states.

You often remember where you were when you heard the news. Someone so ubiquitous in the news and on TV dying in tragic circumstances like that.

Always being a huge STP fan I'd say Scott Weiland but since I was borderline suicidal myself at the time, Chris Cornell then Chester Benington. I was never even a big Linkin Park fan and I know it's controversial whether it was even a suicide but that happened when I was at my lowest point so yeah, I'd say Chester. I'm a much happier, healthier person now though.
