The Mistakes that Weidman made against Rockhold.

The funny thing is that Rockhold is open to a Left spinning heel kick because of his southpaw stance. Weidman threw it with his right and rolled off the shoulders.

If he threw the left he would have connected.

Spinning kick.

Not being able to get out of the headlock after his takedowns.

He came in too small. I'm assuming for better cardio. Rockhold made weidman scared of going for tds with his slick transitions and the striking was close but weidman was losing. I think Rockhold wins again. He is a bad match up for weidman.

He looked like a WW fighter against Rockhold. In previous fights Weidman looked huge for a MW and had a lot of strength in the clinch and an the ground.

I do not want to bash fighters. But USADA and previously low testerone ratios make me a bit suspicious.

Accepting that fight was his biggest mistake. Rockhold is pretty much better everywhere.

yes the spinning kick was awful, but he's also pretty dang slow. he doesn't have Rockhold's athleticism. Has a better chin though.

A lot of people criticizes this rematch and calling it undeserved, but you have to take into account the situation where the division is, with Yoel Romero out of the picture(PED`s) there was no one who deserved a titleshot.
The first time I picked Weidman to win, I thought it would be a very competitive fight but Weidman would eventually impose his will and eventually would get the finish. There were things in the fight that surprised me, Rockhold was significantly bigger, Luke is a huge MW but also could have been that Weidman got trought all his camp at 190 lbs and wanted to be more lean, on fight night he was smaller than ever.
In the fight, the problem for Weidman was that he found out that his strenght (wrestling) wasn`t as effective like in all his fights, Luke could actually hang with him on the ground and he even out grappled him later on, on the feet Weidman barely did what he is very good at,measuring distances, knowing when to go in and out, having his opponet thinking if he`s going to shoot or strike, but that could have been because Luke was not worried to go to the ground, which made him to be more agressive on the feet and being able to start picking his shots, he became the "bully" and Weidman never experience that, it was new for him and he started to hesitate on his ofense. Luke was having success with his kicks and Weidman surprisingly too, Luke looked like he was feeling those kicks and start slowing down...Or it was because he was sick?? Which leaves me to my next point that intrigues me in this rematch, Luke was sick and still put on a phenomenal performance, can you imagine him 100% this time? Weidman apparently had a broken foot so who knows in what conditions they will present themselves on fight night...

Weidman never should have thrown that ridiculous kick.

It wasn't just the kick.

No game whatsoever off of his back.
That was the first time I ever saw him on his back in a fight and he looked absolutely terrible.
Laid basically flat, made no space, got his shallow guard passed straight to mount in a few seconds.
You can't be a complete fighter if that's what happens the first time you get taken down.

The mistake Weidman made was fighting a fighter his age and in his prime for a change, instead of old out of prime fighters.
Rockhold fought Phillippou, Machida, Boetch and Bisping.. which one of those were; his age? or in their prime? This argument makes no sense, you contradict yourself if you use it with Rockhold's name.

Rockhold is gonna win again. good BJJ, TDD and striking. Weidman shouldn't have taken this fight so quickly. Rockhold was putting him in bad spots numerous times within 3 rounds. The first fight is proof that Rockhold is capable of nullifying Weidman's wrestling which is all he has.

Wow, that's a slick move. Reminiscent of Zombie/Poirier.

He had squat for Rockhold on the ground. Rockhold showed to be a much, much better grappler and that's a problem cause Rockhold is the better striker too.

The way rockhold rag dolled him was crazy, I mean Weidman had his back the first round and I was thinking uh oh, yet he seem to do nothing but gas...

USADA and IV ban and some fighters with bigger cuts have looked pretty bad.

I just came in to see if he was still your boy or not

Implying through interprative dance that there had been a misunderstanding regarding his lineage forcing his father to feel the need to clarify the situation postfight was the beggining of his downfall.
also known as "spinning shit"

Weidman tried to be TRT Vitor but didn't realize TRT Vitor is a God and he's just a man. He paid the Just Bleed God for his mistake immediately after

I love it when Weidman nughangers point to the first round of their fight and say "Look! Rockhold got outwrestled"....You have no clue what your looking at.

Rockhold was controlling Chris at all times from defensive position which was pretty incredible, his BJJ positioning is nothing short of sick for an MMA fighter.

If he gets on top of the Chris in the rematch he'll not be getting back up until the bell is rung or he's not conscious any more. Rockhard also has much better standup, Chris has got power...thats about it.

The mistake Chris made was not taking Luke seriously enough. Everything else came from that.
