Economy The Miraculous Transformation of the San Francisco Bay Area

Well, I sure as hell wouldn’t live there. Too expensive for one. I hate traffic for two. And I am not sure I would love living in Cali for three. My area is way too conservative for my wife and I tolerate it, but I feel like Cali would be way too liberal for me to survive
You're describing the city mouse and country mouse. I don't know what you want me to do with that.

San Francisco wages and costs are linked, hence most people work there, make money and pad their resume, and leave. It's like most big industrial hubs. You don't need to live there forever.

I have a 15 year old, 12 year old, and a 7 year old. Doubt they would fly for free. But traveling anywhere is expensive with 3 kids. This year, we went to South Carolina-we ALWAYS go to North Carolina, but changed it up this year and won’t likely do that again. And we went to Tennessee to gaitlinburg and Dollywood. And my oldest went on an Alaskan cruise with my mom. We are all tripped out this year.
Right on man. We used to alternate Tahoe one summer Hawaii the next.

Anywho kids do fly free, I know a family with like 6 kids and they all flew free to an event we attended last fall. She's pregnant with another one too, Catholic.

I’m a city mouse, just not a big city mouse. But then I have friends that have called me a Countey mouse. I mean, not in those words, no one has ever actually called me a mouse or anything like that. As for the politics, I guess you could say I live in trump country even though both my wife and I hate him, but we have enough of a bubble that we have relief away from that when we want it. But I think I would be miserable out there because I would have little relief from what I would feel was too liberal. I am in the middle, but I have my limits. We won’t to Seattle almost ten years ago and it was a bit of a culture shock for me.

Tell her to either shut her legs, or swallow. That’s too many kids, damn. I think I have been to Tahoe before, but never Hawaii. My dad was a neurologist and used to get flown all over the west for conferences in ski towns. I have been all over Colorado and parts of California on ski trips. Back in the 90s, before it was regulated, doctors got to go on the best trips on the pharmaceutical company’s dollar. It was great, but it had to end. I half think that the opioid epidemic is partly because drug companies had conferences in some ski resort or tropical location and pitched OxyContin and how safe and great it was.

Good thing, I don't think neurologist prescribe much pain meds. Phar sales overall is BS, I've been a hospital administrator and ran a multi speciality clinic/cancer treatment center and talked with many reps. These sales guys were actually a great way to keep track on the other clinics in the area.

When I had the time I would invite the sales people into my office and have an informal discussion of what was happening in the medical community. These guys had info on everyone. Was a great way to keep an ear to the area.

I like the way Kaiser handles pharmacy. They have a committee that decides everything and sets a menu. A provider can not prescribe anything that is not on the menu. Pharmacy reps are not allowed in the clinics of hospitals unless authorized. No pop ins.

It really is amazing how far San Francisco has come in my lifetime. When I was a kid SF was definitely a second of third tear city economically. Chicago, LA, Boston, Dallas and Houston were all seen as more significant economically.

In a very short time the Bay Area has turned into a world driving economic center piece, a hub. The Bay Area economy alone is greater than all but a few US states. The area continues to be a hub of innovation. There are more billionaires living in the Bay Area than anywhere except Hong Kong and NYNY.

I am certain this raise was driven by the large number of outstanding universities in the state both public and private. The public university system in the state is the best in the world. system in the state

I’d also suggest that the area benefits from the diversity, it’s gotta be as or more diverse than any place in the US. I believe this helps spur innovation, it certainly isn’t holding the region back in any way.

So some states hope to improve their economy by cutting environmental restrictions, a well run state invests in education and their people.

Based on what? Please enlighten me.

What didn't you understand? Economy grow big, very fast. Economy of small area bigger than almost every state. The area is one of most liberal areas in the country and perhaps the most successful economically over the last 50 years.

Is this more understandable?

That's very interesting insider info. You should make a thread. Seriously. Not being an asshole here.

I used to buy a million dollars worth of drugs a month. You get a shitty reimbursement from the insurance companies and you pray one of the nurses doesn't mess up something or administer a drug before it was authorized. One fuck up could mess up your month.

I don't think there is much mystery surrounding pharm sales. When I was doing primary care they would drop off scads of free samples of viagra hoping docs would hand them out to patients and get them hooked. Kind of a racket.

Wow. How would a nurse mistake impact you?

I got really fucked up on hydrocodone in the late 90's early 2000's. It was nice because it was pharma grade. Then the little Oxycontin pills started showing up. Crushing it and snorting. I saw several people ruin their lives. People died.

I kicked the covers after taking around 10 pills 10mgs every day. Your skin crawls and you hate everyone.

Yeah but oxy's are dope though. The kids could be crying, the wife on the rag but the mood is still good with a little helper.

Every time I have been in some serious pain the opioids have really helped. I am aware of the problems and I was actually on a county task force for opioid reduction. One they had the ability to search the state data base they could easily figure out who the big prescribers were.

WTF. I hated Trump probably before you knew who he was because of Spy Magazine. What did I say that was wrong? I was genuinely curious.

Fuck you and fuck @Crazy Source. You 2 are paranoid mofos.
You are curious then you get all in a ruff when we talk. Lick your balls on your own time, buddy.
