Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

Not even close. Dark Angel is cool, but messy as fuck. Death Angel's catalogue destroys Dark Angels, and they are way better live. I've seen both.
Pppppdffffffff

Death Angel is sissy shit compared to darkness descends brah

Dark Angel and Death Angel both suck
Morbid Saint is better than both

Meh. I got to see them play that album in it's entirety for its anniversary. It was cool seeing Gene Hoglan effortlessly destroy the kit, but there's no groove to any of their shit. I wouldn't go out of my way to see them again. Death Angel I could see play every month and not get tired of them. Easily a top 3 live band out there.

I will agree that morbid saint is better, but dark Angel classic material is to be feared and worshipped. Right about death Angel tho

We need prime morbid saint, dark Angel and hometown heroes demolition hammer to do a gig together to tear the heads off everyone

Extreme thrash REEEEEEEE

doesn't even sound like the same band. Like i said one good album very overrated career.
You don't like that album? I love the chaotic feel. SOTS brought a great tone, but I find that to be their most overrated album. I do like crap music though;/

i like Demo Hammer better than any of those other bands. could be because im from NY originally, but its more likely that they just shred and write excellent riffs. Epidemic of Violence is excellent - i think of it as one of those thrash albums that's teetering on the line of death metal but never fully commits to that genre.

great live too!

Red in The Sky Is Ours is a great album, just takes some listens to get into it.

Slaughter of the Soul is boring and has maybe 2 good songs. i would say its their worst album, but theyve since come back and released more music. i can only assume that stuff is worse.

funny enough, i went and saw At The Gates on their "Suicidal Final Tour" in 2009. still have the shirt. i imagine thats probably a bit of a collector's item since theyre an active band again.

I'm a bit half and half on slaughter of the soul. Loved it when it came out. Still think Tompa's vocal performance is unbelievable...but the music itself hasn't aged well over time.

But I still listen to it cos of the vocals hahahaha

"Need" is a vicious little thrasher and "Under The Serpent Sun" has some of the only weird/off-time riffing on that whole album. other than that, i think its boring. like you, when i first heard it i thought it was great, but after hearing the 3 previous albums i quickly lost interest in SOTS.

would have to listen to it gain. tbh but the production is pretty bad and that is usually off putting for me.

Looks like we will find out soon if Mastodon went with Ben Eller or not tour stars tomorrow!

To be a metalhead is to accept albums that sound like they were recorded in a garage or Hell.

That’s fair. We all have our limits with music. I love shit production values in a lot of metal, so it works to me. I’ll take it over this over-produced metal that is being released a lot now.

If I want that sound I’ll listen to some E.L.O.

For real that over produced sound just snips the balls right out of the music.

What self respecting banger wanna have sugary sweet accessible sounding stuff that even the Christians will wanna listen to??

@BEATDOWNS that's who.

The real devotees, the ones who serve the master, in Hell, will just hear that crazy noise at the start of Black Metal and just immediately buy the record, based on that, before the guitars even fade in.
