Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

Going through a breakup right now with a beautiful woman in her very early 20s, not quite old enough to be her grandfather but certainly old enough to be her daddy.
This was our song lol.
It was amazing while it lasted.

Not into this album too much, my least fav of theirs...BUT the song "They Rode On' is GREAT.

In general a bit mellowed out from their glory days (Casus Luciferi) but they are still a killer band w some good dynamics

New Whitechapel

shit is vicious...

Exodus just announced that Steve "Zetro" Souza is out, and Rob Dukes is back in as frontman. I really didn't see that coming at all. Hope Zetro left on good terms, maybe tired of the touring?

Both are kind of polarizing vocalists. Zetro always felt more "Exodus" than Dukes to me and it took me a while to warm up to him. I'll get to catch them live with Dukes now so that's cool.

Paul Baloff is still the GOAT.

That is awesome Souza fucking sucks and makes Exodus unlistenable for me sounds like a Gargoyle pinching a loaf. I don't mind Dukes at all, he not great but better that Souza for sure. imho

Looking forward to this new album going by these first two tracks, feels more like older Whitechapel to me
I actually prefer the more exploratory Whitechapel with The Valley and Kin was nice to see them step out of their box and they wrote some great music but they said they wanted to get back to roots on this one which I am fine with I do like the OG stuff as well was just nice to get a bit of a switch up for two albums.

He's an acquired taste. I don't like when he goes too far into the cartoony voice, but he also gave us "Tempo of The Damned" and I think he's fantastic on that album, and some of the older albums. Really, I think he is GREAT live, and a super nice dude in person. So are his kids from Hatriot.

Dukes is a bit generic and has that trying to act tough persona, but he grew on me with time. I'll go check him out live, and they are currently working on a new album so he'll be on the vocals for that.

I'm so bummed I never got to see Paul Baloff live. He's my favorite, and my Thrash Metal Spirit Animal.

Some peeps say that Exodus should be in the Big 4 over Anthrax but the vocals take them out of it for me regardless of who it is singing the vocals have always been the weak link in that band. I would put Testament in they have way better vocals and just a more diverse band overall.

First of all, I absolutely hate this "Big 4" concept in general. What other genre does this shit? But the reality is Exodus started the Bay Area scene before Metallica, Slayer, any of those guys came up to play here and it was that scene that really got the genre going, so you have to give Exodus their flowers.

They've always had more unique vocalists, I wouldn't say they outright suck it's just a taste preference. Chuck Billy is fucking killer on vocals and super easy to digest, I wouldn't say Testament is more diverse than Exodus. Both have their sound and formula.

You should check out Zetro doing a spot on Bon Scott in his AC/DC cover band. Fucking KILLER vocals.

Well, along with Tom Hunting who's still in Exodus. Not sure what point your making though. I couldn't be more glad that Kirk left Exodus as that gave us the combo of Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt (The H-Team), and of course gave us those first few good Metallica albums before that band went to shit. Kirk can't even do his own solos these days. Either way, that gives Exodus more clout in the formation of Thrash Metal. Also resulted in the creation of Megadeth. They are intertwined in everything.

You don't get my point but just reiterated it. Lol anyway I didn't know that bringing up the Big 4 was gonna get you all up in your feelings.

Moving on...I'm not here to argue.

If that was your point then we agree and their is no argument. I'm legit not getting upset about anything, just conversing. I like talking about the history of Thrash Metal.
