Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

No.. The metal sub-genre shit needs to stop. Most of the girls I knew had as much or more rock, including heavy metal in their CD cases as they did rap in the 90's. I miss that. What music was in the 90's is being hidden from you guys, so you don't know.

EDIT: Sorry I said you guys are nerds. You're not. You just don't realize how far back hard music has been pushed.
It's all cool.
I, personally find them helpful (the degree that sub-genres are split into sub -sub-sub- genres is ridiculous, though) when searching new bands. I like my metal dark and heavy (black and doom) and knowing that a band like Freedom Call will not fit the bill save a lot of time and hassle.

BTW, I've been listening to the stuff since around 1979 (when an older dirthead turned me on to Priest) or so, so I do know.

Nicked Sabbath riffery (they manage to make t their own, though) notwithstanding, this album is pure bliss.

Just came across this Mongol metal band called... THE HU. :D

Man I despise power metal, but last night Powerwolf popped up on my YouTube and they basically wear corpse paint so I had no idea what I was in for...

I actually enjoy it, not sure how long before I get sick of it, but some of their tracks are pretty fun.

The riffs are pretty straight forward, operatic power metal vocals are pretty standard, quite keyboard driven, the lyrics seem to be a parody of catholicism mixed with sexuality, I don't know what it is that's clicking with me. I read about them being compared to Sabaton but that band makes me want to puke. The chorus' are quite catchy but there's plenty of songs with catchy hooks that I can't stand...

I am a power metal fan, and I like both bands. They dont sound alike to me, Powerwolf uses operatic vocals and much more keyboard parts. They are awesome live, both of them.

Here is some french grind, I find those guys interesting- very rich and multilayered sound

I was recently at this show. I took some elbows to the dome but it was worth it. fucking love Excel and CARCASS.

been listening to this album a lot lately.

When this popped up in my youtube notifications I immediately stopped what I was doing to watch it. I am very late to the Gojira party. Only got into them about 7 months ago but god damn I have now fallen in love with their music. Also Lost In Vegas are great. I been following them from near the beginning and I like their honesty. We haven't gotten any new Gojira reviews in a bit and I wonder if it is because George went and listened to their other stuff. Still good to see they enjoy Gojira and also that they liked Devin Townsend but who the fuck doesn't!

New Gojira review from George and Ryan:

Quite like Nile but there's a lot they've made that i've not listened to. Heard this today and thought it was awesome.

Going to see Overkill for the first time next week. Long time since their last South American tour. Should be fun, one of the best Thrash Metal bands of all time.

Just got into Beyond Creation recently. A death metal band from Quebec. They've got the be the best newer death metal band I've heard in a decade. Every band member is insanely talented.
