I remember seeing them in a tiny venue in the 90s growing up in Australia. It was a mindfuck to go from that to seeing them live at huge festivals like this.

I had the chance to hang out a bit with the lads when they played in Munich a few years ago. Probably the most nice/funny/humble musicians I ever bumped into and such chill dudes.
This was also a fun watch
By the way Rock am Ring festival uploaded a lot of concerts from this year on their YT recently. Also some metal thread worthy![]()
Seeing these guys tomorrow night in Berkeley at Cornerstone, which is the craziest fucking venue in the Bay. Gonna be non stop stage diving.
There was no Thrash scene in LA. All of those bands moved up to the Bay Area because the LA scene was full of eyeliner wearing sissies. Exodus was already crushing it up here when Metallica and Slayer came up. The scene was started here. You guys were dressing up like women and doing hair metal. All of these bands credit the Bay Area. Go watch Murder in the Front Row and learn some history.Oh and by the way, thrash metal was born in Los Angeles, not the Bay Area. Slayer, Megadeth, and Metallica (yes, Metallica) had their start in Los Angeles. Metallica became associated with Bay Area only after Cliff insisted that they move up north.
But then again, the term "thrash metal" was invented by Anthrax, a New York band, so![]()
Cutting a discussion from another thread into this one...

Megadeth started well after the Bay Area scene was already booming. Metallica was playing in the Bay Area WITH Dave Mustaine. Slayer stopped wearing eyeliner because they got clowned at the first show they played in the Bay Area. You have your history wrong.Wrong. Both Megadeth and Slayer remained in Los Angeles. They're quintessentially Angeleno bands. Even members of Slayer wore eyeliners in their early days. Dave Mustaine told Kerry King to cut that shit out and stop being a poseur.
You really aren't though because all of those bands from LA weren't getting gigs and the fans weren't into what they were doing at the start down in LA. It wasn't until after they went up to the Bay Area and got big that the scene grew in LA.This is not a knock on the Bay Area thrash scene. I'm a huge fanatic of the likes of Testament, Exodus, and Death Angel. The first thrash metal band I witnessed live was Testament (minus Skolnick). I'm just stating the facts here.
I'm not saying Thrash was exclusive to the Bay Area, I'm saying that is where the scene began - because that's what these bands actually say. Their were contributions from all over, including Germany with Kreator, Sodom and others. Also, let's not forget about the contributions New York City had given to the thrash metal scene with bands like Anthrax, S.O.D., and Overkill.
i went to Maryland DeathFest this year and it was incredible. i have lots of great pics i can post later - dont have the time now unfortunately. for now, this page has this past year's lineup. https://deathfests.com/history/
on topic - i dont like anything else these guys did but i have been listening to this album again a lot recently and its still cool. Nifelheim's apparently still going.
