The first one she's off the ground before she raises her knees.. not jump assisted.

the other two aren't kipped. Kipping is using the swing of the legs as momentum to swing back up. She's doing it really slowly and the knees go up when she goes up and down when she goes down. If this was kipping the leg swing down would assist with the torso and help pulling the body up. There is no momentum assist with her legs but it does help with maintaining balance a bit. Not even close to being kipping.

You can see her push off with her feet for the first rep. She swings her knees up to help with momentum; you were right in that it's not kipping as used in Crossfit. In my defence, I was drunk when I posted that.

At the end of the day, I'm not hating on her because she's at least making the effort to work out. And much more importantly, her rack looks good in that outfit(if they make that her new Captain Marvel costume, I'll watch the crap out of that movie:))

first captain marvel was freaking great. can wait for the second one and im glad all the misogynistic insecure men on this forum wont be in the theatre with me. lol

I like the comics of Kamala Khan.

I hope they keep the storyline where she tries to balance her family's expectations and culture with the larger American "adolescent" culture....on top of having powers.

Also, I wonder if Kamala Khan will take the place of Peter Parker in case Sony retakes creative control of the character.

Captain Marvel is literally nobody's favorite in any form of media.

All the girls 4-10 yo admire her. Not sure what for, but they are.

Though the movie was bad, and her acting is atrocious, and she has a personality of a broken toaster, as a father of two girls, I just want them to be happy. If they play dress up as Cap Marvel, I'm fine with it.

Then when they turn 13-14, I'm gonna educate them as to what a good movie is and what a properly developed character is. Show them e.g. Ripley or Sarah Connor.

so that just sounds like you’re gonna mansplain why they shouldn’t like Captain Marvel

Hand on the wrist is what’s assisting not this weird nitpicking shit you’re making up.

Will be skipping, never watched the first movie and never plan to.

In fact I think I'll only watch Spiderman and Doctor Strange out of this next phase, I couldn't be any less interested in the others.

Huh, maybe I worded that wrongly. That's on me.

I am gonna show them different movies, ask what they like about it, what characters are memorable and why they think that is so. Making them come to their own conclusion. If they happen to like Cap Marvel better, so be it. I like X-men 3 (for reasons unknown to me), so who I am I to judge on what someone else likes and doesn't like.

Looking forward to the very-triggered incel and mens rights reviewers losing their gdamn mind's over this one.

IMO first one was on par with Black Panther, better than Thor 2 and Antman 2, but not that great or memorable of a movie. Brie just isn't very good in the role.

I'd take even Elektra over Cap Marvel. Wait, I take it back. Not Elektra. But Thor 2 and Antman 2 are definitely miles and miles above Cap Marvel.

I think Brie is a talented actress. But she was either misdirected in this or her character was poorly written. Or both. Her comments before the movie were not my cup of tea, but my criticism on the movie has nothing to do with that. It's just a poorly written movie, with forced dialogue, forced jokes, forced friendship and a blatantly obvious attempt at 90s pop culture nostalgia thing.

And while I like that I'm not the only one not seeing why people think Black Panther is the next sliced bread, I'd rank BP over Cap Marvel.

Brie Larson posts one-arm pull-up training for The Marvels.

If you hold your wrist like that then you're still lifting with two arms. I guess the grip strength in a single hand is being tested but that's it.

This is a real one armed pull-up.

I suspect the big issue was that Marvel was getting negative PR for not having had a female lead film and Captain Marvel was viewed as a response to that so generally stick to a pretty safe "empowerment" story which didnt leave much room for a decent character arc. You ended up with something like Tony Stark but minus the faults and self awareness which became quite obnoxious , honestly the "I kick ass and I'M A GIRL!" feels regressive to me in 2019. Having the character buy much more deeply into the anti Skrull mentally and having to confront genuine misplaced hatred of them rather than merely being tricked would potentially have made for a much better film I'd say.

Most likely. Wonder Woman was a hit the moment they announced Gadot as the star. And a female director/screenwriter. Marvel had to act fast. And it shows...
