Is @Myrddin Wild the physical embodiment of Wookiepedia? Learning so much that i didnt know.

The Nerd is strong with that one:)

Haha... thanx guys... I do enjoy the detailz of interesting questions & it's fun to expand the universe by seeking out any answers to questions I have.

Speaking of which... :D something I looked into this morning is that I'm hearing a lot of these episode review video's online are saying those were First Order ships that dropped off the storm troopers. They are wrong. The First Order ship has their pilot in that thing sticking up in the back where these are an upgraded version of this where the pilot's better protected.

The AAL-1971/9.1 Troop Transport, also known as an Atmospheric Assault Lander (AAL) or First Order Transporter was used in Ep. 7.

999

Also, the engines in the back of the Mando ep ship were wider & stick way out the side.

It's a similar model... but definitely different. I suppose you could contest which one is the upgrade... but because we see the Sith Eternal with the ultimate upgrade & it has the lower cockpit... I think it's safe to say the First Order was given the inferior ship to build. Although both orgs were ultimately controlled by Sid... the Sith Eternal were kept a secret from the First Order... & so the First Order wasn't the end game for Sid... & so that makes sense that they wouldn't care whether or not the First Order had inferior tech.

Ships with loading decks are not uncommon, however this design is specific to either the First Order or the Sith Eternal. It's definitely not something left over from the crumbled Empire. Gideon is without a doubt working for either the First Order or the Sith Eternal.

The Sith Eternal have an upgraded version of both of these that we saw at the end of ep. 9 after Finn released his horses from his "Fortitude" transporter.... (1:42:48) the Sith Troopers showed up in teh upgraded AAL-2100/9.5 - which brings the back end back in... has the upgraded lower cockpit... but also has a big gun on top. So the one we see in Mando appears to be a model somewhere in between the First Order's transport ship & teh Sith Eternal's transport ship.

It's more closely related to the Sith Eternal ship & so while not EXACT science... I think this strongly indicates that Gideon is working for the Sith Eternal & just using regular storm troopers so as not to spoil the surprise of Sid's big reveal with the red sith troopers.

Also pointing toward this theory is that he's heavily involved in cloning & even had a few of his own in that base Creed & Marchall Thicc blew up. I felt like Gideon was Sith Eternal just on cloning alone, but with the transport ship similarities... it drives that theory home even more imo.

:D

Yes, exactly! Vader had his monster cyborg costume and in his first appearance he’s massacring guys who look like kindly uncles. It’s like, “I present to you, for your consideration as a cultural icon, this guy” and he comes swinging out of the gate.

Herzog just has that mysterious quality to him like he might be happy to record you naked as you die (cause that’s who he is) but Gideon so far hasn’t quite gotten his mystique nailed down

Scenes like Vader force choking guys or Boba Fett rocket punching stormtroopers after going Happy Gilmore on them with a sand wedge were fucking awesome. They're not winning any oscars but they play to SW biggest strength: low brow fantasy.

I really hope they fill out Gideon's character in the next two episodes. Like @Peteyandjia said, so far I think he's a rare miss in an otherwise excellent series.

Exactly. Without the screen time or lines to establish him as a complicated villain, he needs something simple and in your face to make him feared/hated.

So far we've seen that he blows up his own troops, gets shot down in a TIE fighter by a guy with a jetpack and instructs his convoy commander to nose dive the ship, only to have it survive and get hijacked anyway. All while making Gus face.

The worst that could happen to Baby Yoda is he gets heartburn from Gideon feeding him curly fries with too much southwestern kick (prepared in a fastidiously clean stainless steel fryer).

Maybe we can have Moff Gideon cut down Lyle with the dark saber after a surprise kitchen inspection.

You know what he needs? He needs a gimmick. I use that word with love, too. If they really want to go the Gus route, one of his best scenes was over dinner with Walter, talking about flavours.

Gideon should eat aliens. He should be *that* imperial commander, the one who knows what fried wookie tastes like. Every scene with Baby Yoda, Gideon should be torn between cooking him and using him for the empire. Perhaps, even, he wears his armor because it is helping him digest otherwise indigestible species.

Oh man, I Love this idea. Space Gus eating wookies. Yeah, that would be way better. They need you in the writers room.

You ever see Jim Jarmusch’s DEAD MAN btw? Great movie

With all the fan service, Boba Fett return and Baby Yoda . I still find Herzog as my favorite part of the series. Dat voce and rusty storm troopers.

Yeah, he was great. Werner has been the best Mando villain so far, by far. Inspired casting choice. I don’t care they killed him off, they should just bring him back anyway

We never saw him fully die, he can come back with some cyborg parts too. He was fucking great

No, I haven’t. I just looked up a trailer, I’ll watch it soon, this is very up my alley.

“Taken separately the ingredients don’t remind me of anything. But add a glaze of broiled HuttFat to a smoked wookie Liver...well, I start to remember who I killed and why. In fact, it was my appetite that got me promoted. I ate countless dinners with the Emperor himself. His taste was exquisite, and so he ate with me. It was at dinner he made me a Moff, over a plate of cooked Togruta hair.”

On post 1301 I made a case that those landers that brought teh Storm Troopers... indicates a connection to the Sith Eternal. (as well as the cloning)

I took that one step further to look at Gideon's whole ship. It's a modernized version of The Arquitens-class command cruiser.

This was a ship used in the Empire... however Gideon's is a reworked version of it with obvious upgrades. These were first made in 4BBY & so this upgraded model would've come a considerable time after that. Where this gets interesting is that it was "Kuat Drive Yards" who builds & modifies these things. After a merger they changed their name to "Kuat-Entralla Engineering" and guess what else they build:

The Xyston-class Star Destroyers (Sid's Fleet) The Resurgent Class Star Destroyer (the First Order's fleet) as well as their Dreadnaughts (including Snoke's ship)
<TheWire1>
This is another very strong indication that Gideon is much more than someone who is operating from remnants of the fallen empire but is operating for either The First Order or Sith Eternal. Adding to that, the cloning program Gideon was over seeing... as well as that lander's design, I'm leaning heavily toward Sith Eternal.

In order to build these massive fleets in the unknown regions, the Sith Eternal, as well as the First Order had to bring supplies in from the rest of the galaxy, & in order to keep the operation quiet, they put Sith Eternal as board members at the highest levels of 2 of the galaxy's biggest manufacturers. Kuat & Seinar-Jaemus Fleet were the 2 companies. Where Kuat made the big structures, SJF made many of the parts, canons & tie fighters etc...

The way this was all set up was that the Sith Eternal were upper officers of the First Order, but not even the people higher than them knew about the Sith Eternal or Exegul. They knew these guys had connections with those manufacturers but they didn't know it was an entire cult with a bigger fleet than theirs. Interesting stuff when you think about it.

Interesting stuff! Bring on the next episode, these next 2 episodes are gonna be great.

Mando/Grogu reunion gonna have us blubbering like babies, especially when he brings out that control knob from the razor crest for him to keep as his toy

Or since we know there will be a season 3, maybe they'll give us a cliff-hanger, all dark like TESB, where this season, the bad guys triumph and all hope seems lost

It's a damn shame they killed off Herzog. He legit sounds like an ex-Nazi war criminal. Given that the First Order was based on the Nazis who fled to Argentina after WWII, he's absolutely perfect in the role.

As the series is an unapologetic Space Western, I wonder if, "I like those odds" is a homage to the scene in Young Guns, when the US Army turn up to arrest the Regulators at the end,

Doc(watches dozens of soldiers ride up)"Billy, we're good, but this is getting ridiculous".

Billy(grins maniacally)"I like these odds!"

They had to convince him to be in it all. He only did it to fund a project he was interested in. I think they would have loved to keep him forever, but that was his choice, not theirs.

They were going to make Baby Yoda full CGI. Herzog called them a bunch of pussies and they decided to use a puppet.

The Dark Side is strong with Werner:)
