Complain all you want about fan service this season. At least Filoni and Favreau do it right unlike Jar Jar Abrams. I'll take Boba Fatt all day over Episode IX. Just give me Luke fucking Skywalker that doesn't drink alien Walrus blue tittay milk in the season finale and I'm gonna lose it. I'm just happy to get good Star Wars again. Filoni Bless!

That thing where Mando left his jet pack on the ground was pretty quirky. I understood they needed him to not be mobile so the dark troopers could take the child & fly off but they certainly should've written it to be a little more believable. Maybe showing his fuel cartridge being empty would've been a better way to do it.

I thought the same thing as I was watching it. You knew a reason was coming up for Mando to not have his flying capability. Fantastic episode, though. I'm not as knowledgeable as you regarding the entire canon, but was a huge fan of the original trilogy as they came out and can still recite every word of every original movie to this day. Pathetic, I know lol. Mando is the best thing to come out since ESB in my opinion. I just love the storytelling. And for what it's worth, I'm a published novelist and know a little about that.

How come some kung-flu forum fanboy (@Myrddin Wild) can come up with a better plot twist/explanation than a bigshot hollyweird "pro"?

How fucking simple would it be to show mando putting his jetpack back on, trying to lift off, and falling, for example, from 10' height and then not making it to the top in time to save the kid?

How fucking hard would that be to film?
How many seconds would that have added to the episode? 5? 10?

Well, it took over thirty years, but Boba Fett finally proved himself to be the bad ass we all knew and loved. Boba besmirching Stromtroopers with his Gaffi Stick - you at the back, stop sniggering! - was both pure, unashamed Fan Service and fucking awesome. OK, so the Stormtroopers continue to be Sci Fi equivalent of the Italian Army in WWII. The sight of them getting smashed into plastic shards still made me grin like Baby Yoda looking at Krayt Dragon BBQ.

Mando himself came down with a serious case of PIS: Plot Induced Stupidity. Dude, you have a fucking jet pack; why are you going Full Rocky IV and running to the top of the mountain?

No, I've never made a thread about my writing. Back in the day I hit the NY Times bestseller list twice with my fiction. Made a little money, though not as much as you'd expect, and gained a little notoriety around the old home town but that's as far as it went.

OK, so the Stormtroopers continue to be Sci Fi equivalent of the Italian Army in WWII. I don't even care about the PIS. Loved Boba smashing that shitty Stormtrooper armor all over the place with the gaffi stick. Now it's basically a 2 episode arc about getting back baby yoda. Legit excited to see if Luke, Ezra, Sabine, or Thrawn shows up in the finale.

A few predictions:

Grogu will have a new outfit to sell more toys. Mando will be jealous of Boba's armor color scheme and he will have a new armor color scheme + sexier space ship... to sell more toys. There will be more cool characters introduced to Mando... to sell more toys.

I like this show; it’s good fun. But any ideas about it being amazing are unfounded. It’s just a silly Star Wars gunslinger show.

It did seem like lazy writing.

Mando could have put the jetpack on and zoomed to save Grogu, but a Dark Trooper spotted him coming and shot him making him go off course for a long enough delay for them to still kidnap Grogu.

Ming Na Wen and Boba instinctively and immediately getting Boba to launch the Slave I to pursue was cool.

I'm wondering if the episode lengths are short if they came too close to the budget spending for special effects, etc. per episode.
