At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I hope this series features a new canon version of Mara Jade.

I'm well aware that the version of the character who was Luke's wife on Legends isn't a right fit for the new canon, but if we de-couple the character from the love interest side of the character, you can put her either in the OT era or the Seqeuel Trilogy era without much issue.
I'm with you bro. Love the Mara Jade Legend. There's a whole 30 yearz of not knowing much about what Luke was up to. Could easily tell a story about Jade Skywalker. Maybe she died in the temple collapse & that's a part of why Luke is so f*cked in the head. Maybe they just went their separate wayz & she's still alive.

They're really pushing the idea that "anyone" can be force sensitive with how they made Rey come from "nobodys" & how they got rid of the midichlorians in modern Disney Star Wars. They seem to not want it to be a birth right thing... but that anyone can aspire to it. That said, I seriously doubt there's a Skywalker kid in the mix. Perhaps his kid died in the temple destruction though... that would work with current Canon & explain why Luke's kid isn't around... & also handle Disney's insistence on getting rid of the "birthright" thing.

I want something more like GOT in space.. that old republic tv series.
While I want to co-sign this, I feel like "GoT all the things" is not a formula that is going to have a lot of legs. Especially since not many people have the budget HBO or Netflix do.

I guess we'll see if this Conan series at Amazon gets off the ground.

Jon Favreau to Write and Produce Live-Action STAR WARS TV Series

Jon Favreau is set to executive produce and write a live-action Star Wars series, Disney announced Thursday.

"I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform,” Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm president said in a statement. “Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”

This is not Favreau's first time working in a galaxy far, far away. The actor/director played roles in both the Star Wars: The Clone Warsanimated series and in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.

“If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you," he said in a statement. "I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”

The untitled Star Wars live-action series does not yet have a release date.

Favreau, Filoni, and the Rogue One Team are the only people I trust not to mess a SW story up. Everyone else is suspect.

What it's Disney they have the money to have a big budget show especially if they wanna dazzle people with their new streaming service.

No more of that ABC's cheap production shit we need the good stuff from Buena Vista.

Probably not gonna happen, but something set during the Old Republic era would be cool. Perhaps based around the Mandalorian Wars featuring a transgendered Revan.

I really like the idea of a well produced Knights of the Old Republic series. Lots of the potential to pull off something awesome as the Games were fantastic for the time they came out, mainly for the story and setting they imparted in the SW Uni.

...Lots of potential to fuck it up too lol.

Disneys streaming service has always been their big play. They will make a fortune off of a streaming service that contains all their content

People are triggered on Twitter about favreau getting it lol

We now know the time period the show will be set in:

Speaking to Nerdist’s Dan Casey at last night’s Solo: A Star Wars Story premiere—Favreau plays the alien Rio Durant in the movie—Favreau surprisingly also teased what fans could expect from his own Star Wars project: a TV show set roughly seven years after the battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi.

Favreau also mentioned that the series would utilize the similar sort of CG work the director had previously used in Disney’s Jungle Book reboot and, unsurprisingly, will focus on a new cast of characters. But the seven-year date is particularly interesting because it places the show in a very specific and relatively untouched piece of Disney’s Star Wars timeline.

Seven years after Return of the Jedi would place Favreau’s show in approximately 11 ABY (that’s “After Battle of Yavin” for the unfamiliar, the standard dating metric in the Star Wars canon). From what we know of Disney’s timeline in this between-trilogies period so far, this would be around six years after the New Republic is officially founded with the signing of the Galactic Concordance in 5 ABY, and the development of what would eventually become the First Order—hiding in the Unknown Regions—is still in its most secretive and earliest days.

So... 11 ABY. That pretty much rules out any cameos by the old guard. They'd be way too old to play their characters in that time period. Luke and Leia would be 30 and Han around 40.

Jon Favreau's Live-Action Star Wars TV Series Titled THE MANDALORIAN; First Plot Details Revealed

Disney's forthcoming streaming service won't launch until late 2019, but details surrounding one of its most highly anticipated TV series have emerged.

Jon Favreau, who is set to write and executive produce an original, live-action scripted Star Wars TV series, on Wednesday revealed that his new show will be called The Mandalorian.

"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic," Favreau shared in a post on his Instagram account.

Disney is developing multiple live-action Star Wars TV series for its upcoming streaming service, which is designed to rival Netflix. The platform will be the exclusive home for Marvel feature films and original series as well as Pixar and other Lucasfilm properties. So far, only Favreau's involvement in one of the Star Wars TV series has been revealed. Wednesday's announcement offers a closer look at just where the new Star Wars TV series fits in with the franchise.

For his part, Favreau is no stranger to the Star Wars universe. The actor-director played roles in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
