Oh.Because it's not pocket sand if it's not in your pocket?

Its just weird cuz I know you have those tiny paws so I didn't know how helpful 5 or 6 grains could beThe use of pocket sand is situational. If you're a fighter, you may want more pocket sand as needed. Enough sand and you could topple a South American country. Chile for instance.
go on....![]()

Disclaimer: I'm just hopping in here so forgive me if what I'm about to say has been obviated or if I've misunderstood the context and it's just plain irrelevant and a waste of time to read.I know one of the big criticisms is that mana is a hard limiter. Unless you're god at planning, you can't make a mana specific build that isn't either health or mana fucked until like level 40. You're either gonna go glass cannon or battlemage because you have no mana. Sneak crit bonus completely tilts in favor of range builds vs magic.
Remove mana from the equation though, and the mage becomes the best class in the game in damage output and utility. Being able to use Expert level Thunderbolt as a long range greeting is understated in how effective it is.
Don't you be mine,

Well, you have to balance abilities somehow. If you receive extended range or extra damage (or both) there has to be a penalty in terms of reduced ammo, for lack of a better term. Mages having to run and hide from melee or use normal weapons, until they get to higher levels at which point they maul everyone, is a game balance that goes all the way back to D&D days. The difference, of course, is that in those days you were expected to be part of a group because classes complimented each other. But since you can train almost any skill IIRC in Skyrim, it's almost the same if you know how to build that sort of character. I have always loved the rogue-mage character type and I think that's what's really needed in a game like Skyrim. But then I didn't get very far in it before life interfered too much with game time and I really haven't picked it up since. That is likely changing in the near future, however.
Anyway, just my two cents. I haven't played a video game in ages so most such discussion here is just so much noise to me, but every now and then it's fun to get in a comment or two about days long past.
I don’t think you know how it works still. Let @Clippy explain. He has the pulse on the WR since he ran 2-3 times.
Working shows for these guys was always fun.
Well, if game balance is out of whack, that's a different thing entirely. Fair enough I guess and good to know if I take another shot at the game.I think the problem with skyrim mages and mana is that you never really reach the point where you're mauling people due to the fact that mana is the hard cap.
Early game you can make do with fireballs, but around level 20 or so, dungeons start spawning high level draugr and your spells haven't caught up yet. You're either forced to supplant your mana with swords (bad), or spec so far into mana that you're still rocking base health because you need the floor amount of mana to even sling high level spells (even worse). Even the CC spells won't clear a room and double charging them eats even more mana.
Add in ranged sneak crit multiplier and there's literally no reason to go mage in Skyrim outside of rp reasons. Ranged DPS, even outside of sneak, is way too high. In Oblivion you might have tokened a couple of magic schools to get a levitate or invisibility, but those utility spells aren't in skyrim. Until you can enchant yourself free spells, Destruction school is the biggest what if in the game. Once you enchant free spells though, it becomes everything you need and more. Quiet Casting makes it even better because they only hear the impact of spells, not you casting.
