I've been looking for a new book to read and I've been wanting to try a Stephen King book out. Think I'm gonna give this a read and then watch the movie. Thanks Sherdog!

Well the stand has major tie ins to the dark tower. Main bad guy in stand is a huge character in the dark tower

I saw this last night and was actually impressed by it. There are a lot of bad Stephen King movies but the good ones seemed to deal with kids and coming of age, Stand by Me and IT, in my opinion. The story is fairly straight forward with a steady pace throughout the movie. I can't remember the details of the original story but the movie very much is a commentary on capitalism. I am unsure as to why but the seasons where kids were shot for falling behind actually did make me cringe and feel something. I think the last movie that for me was "Bring Her Back" which had kids and was way over the top in terms of graphic violence. (I really recommend that one too. You'll love it or hate it. No in between). The story is rather simple but it is a story in my opinion that is not really about what it is about. I thought it was shot well, the pacing was kept up, all the kids had some chemistry even if each was representing a cliche/stereotype, and Mark Hamill was great as the general. I really enjoyed it and as a Stephen King fan, it felt like an tight story with a decent ending. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did and was expecting something on the level an above average horror shlock. I would give it a it solid 9/10 for what it is.
