The "Khamzat proves Usman is still elite" problem

If he can wear Buckley down for 2 rounds then he will best him. Buckley is good but the dude is pure muscle he doesn't have 5 round cardio but who knows

I just laughed so hard I spit on my computer.
Thanks for the post.

TBF, Juiceman is suspiciously "all muscle" too. But he has won 5 round fights when he was younger, so I'll give you that. I don't think he can go "high output" for the entire fight like he did vs. Colby, though.

Those are fucking massive advantages to have over someone who does not have functioning knees.
Fair.
The only person he ever chinned was a washed Masvidal half a decade ago. He broke Colby's jaw after Colby was running into his fist for 20 minutes.
Usman chinned prime Burns with a jab. He certainly has the most pure punching power out of any WW Buckley has fought. Also it's not as if Buckley has chinned anyone at WW who isn't older or washed (Luque, WB, Colby).

I don't think Usman can push a pace anymore, but tonight will answer a lot of questions.

I'm still leaning towards a TKO'd Usman retiring tonight in Atlanta.
Yes, I look forward to seeing the fight later tonight so we can finally put a a rest to discussions of whether Usman is washed or not.

Oh he's certainly washed, but tonight we see if he's a "can still headline fight nights" or if they start feeding him to contenders. He's in the same spot Izzy was at with Imavov with this fight IMO

He could also move to MW where I can see him going life and death with mid-level guys.

I can understand this opinion but WHO has Buckley beaten at WW who is actually not older or washed? Imavov ended Brendan Allens win streak and put Jared, a top 5 MW on skates who has been a top 5 MW for years who just put a clinic on Vettori and beat Strickland a couple of fights prior. Buckley has beaten no one in their prime riding a win streak, he has not beaten a top 5 guy either. I'm not saying he can't beat Usman, he certainly can but finishing a washed Colby, washed Luque and older WB does not warrant this level of dick riding IMO.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Buckley as a future champ. If he beats Usman, he'll still be in the same boat...all his recent wins are against old guys. He's doing the same thing Colby got criticized so harshly for. And to be fair, Belal, Edwards and Burns did it too...they built their resumes on the previous generation of WWs: Lawler, RDA, Maia, Masvidal, Wonderboy, Nate Diaz, etc.

But with that said, I still favor a "legend killer" in their prime like Buckley over 38-year old who's been inactive and hasn't won a fight in 4 years. And Buckley better fight another contender after this. Shavkat, Garry, Brady, etc. Those would all be interesting match-ups.

We aren't rating Buckley highly (though he is at the high point of his career) we're just rating an old, lose streaking, no knees, inactive Usman less.

I would be shocked if he grabbed gold.

WW has been a generation beating up a retirement home ever since Robbie's reign. Ian vs Shavkat was the first time we saw two contenders in their 20s fighting for a shot. When was the last time that happened at WW?
I'll wait...

Of all the top guys, JDM (another pure striker) matches up best with Buckley IMO. I see Garry and Shavkat mixing in wrestling enough to win a decision. Brady would probably start out striking, sneak in a TD and submit him. Getting to JDM would be the hardest part for Buckley.

Too bad MVP has a fight lined up with Cannonier. He's probably the only older guy who has the striking chops and isn't washed enough (like 40+ year old Wonderboy) to really challenge Buckley in a striking war.

Usman wants to win the WW and MW belts first, lol.
Remember: He was saying "I don't even have to weigh 205 to be Jan Blachowicz."
He's come in "around 195" and beat him hahahaha
