Without seeing what led up to Nate putting that guy to sleep, IMHO Nate put him out quickly, then did his best to NOT let him get hurt hitting the asphalt, while remaining alert to the threat of some clown jumping on him.
<mma4>
Not sure if this is serious. Nate did try to lower the guy down a bit and not let him fall from standing height, but unfortunately his head still bounced. But it looked like Nate just walked off and didn't try to check on him or revive him...unless you saw a longer clip.

Civil lawsuit is going to take everything you worked for muthafucka.
I've been watching a lot of law stuff on youtube lately so I can confirm he is screwed (in my expert opinion).
This is kind of like the old expression "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV."
"I'm not a lawyer, but I watch some legal stuff on Youtube."
It's hard to say without knowing more context. Was the guy verbally threatening Nate, so he thought a fight was unavoidable? And regardless of what really happened, there's always a lot of "he said, she said" and different accounts--not just of Nate, but the whole scene.

No matter if the guy deserved it, Nate better prepare to lawyer up. Because that will likely be coming.

Why isn't it a good look?

Because in the first 2 seconds of the video, you see the other guy with hands up palms-out in what appears to be a de-escalation posture and action.

Then mayhem, then knee and choke ending with guy quickly rendered unconscious by professional fighter and martial artist.

So yah. Not too hard to figure out why it's a bad look and a bad idea.

If this wasn't a staged event, and if the guy sues Diaz, Diaz gonna pay big money.

Looked like that guy had his palms up trying not to fight.

Nate could be fucked here.

LOL, I went back and watched it again, you can actually hear the guy's head smack the pavement.
Also, that's a curb the guy's shoulders landed on, which means his head snapped back and had farther to travel than the shoulders.

Yah. Lawsuit imminent.

Unless there is more film available that shows enough aggression to warrant nearly lethal self-defense, Nate will give this guy a tremendous amount of money.

Dude coulda got touched up and hurt but Diaz opted to give him a nap instead.

I'd say he got off easy.

From what I can see the dude is standing square in front of Diaz, palms open, hands up, knees not bent, so definitely doesn't appear to be threatening....but for some reason he inches forward into striking range.

Based on his attitude/stance it would appear he had no interest fighting, but he has no idea how to "de-escalate" if he thinks inching into striking range of an MMA fighter with his dukes up in the middle of a street fight is a good idea.

Maybe next time try backing away instead of inching forward eh buddy?

Richard Belzer (the guy from Law and Order) once had this happen to him by Hulk Hogan.

He ended up getting enough money to buy a villa in the south of France.

With that said, I'll gladly get choked out for a couple mill.

Really tough situation. Nate can't exactly slowly set the guy down amid chaos in a street fight and risk getting sniped... And yet I'm worried for the dude whose head fell that far- scary.
