Totally agreed. They are both annoying as hell and I can't wait to see Paul lose.

The issue is people create this fake argument of "fight a real boxer." What does that mean? Why is Jake a real boxer? Is Tommy Fury a real boxer? How about Rahman Jr? Or does Jake need to fight Jai Opetaia to prove he is a "real" boxer? Aside from fighters that have extensive amateur backgrounds, world champions are fighting complete cans early on in their career. Many of those fights are also fixed/corrupt decisions to give up-and-comers the win.

I dislike Jake, it sounds like you despise him to an unhealthy extent, but I get it. He is an annoying YouTube star that never needed to box, but he did it anyway, which makes me respect him in that regard. Yes, he claims to be elite, but he has also rolled back some claims. He told Eddie Hearn to his face that he will beat anyone in his stable with less than 10 fights. That sounds fairly reasonable to me, even though he'd likely lose to most. You can't deny people are upset that he is beating former MMA champions. You're on an MMA message board for crying out loud -- a lot of people are wounded about that.

Now if he beats Rahman, everyone that hates him (likely yourself) will trash the win and say Rahman sucked. Fine, but then again, Jake isn't a real boxer is he? Who does he need to beat to satisfy randomg1t?
yeah i'm not shitting on him for fighting people with little experience, he himself has little experience. there's no problem with any of that.

but there is a big difference between a boxer quietly amassing experience and beating up cans early in his career, and a loudmouth like jake doing it in main events and getting the same (or more) amount of media attention as legitimate world champions beating legitimate contenders. now, media attention isn't something we can blame him for, but we definitely can blame him for what he does with that media attention. he's an obnoxious cunt. i mean that much is undeniable, right?

there's a solid argument to be made about jake putting in the work and just winning fights. the dude obviously trains hard, and he keeps winning, which is the whole point. but he isn't really trying to become a good boxer if he's fighting people like ben askren, for fuck's sake. he's literally looking for the biggest name with the least skill. it's celebrity boxing at best. he's faced a youtuber who can't box, an old NBA star who can't box, a wrestler who can't box, and then an over the hill ex MMA champion who probably actually can box, but doesn't.

watch canelo's early fights when he was lighting up nobodies and show me someone as terrible as ben askren or nate robinson.

if paul really wanted to be a professional boxer, he could be one. i think he has enough talent and athleticism to win pro fights against semi-competent opposition. he isn't taking any titles, but he can win fights. but he doesn't want to be a professional boxer. he wants to act like one, and be treated like one in every way, except for fighting other people with the same aspirations.... which is kind of the whole point.

i can't speak for anyone else, but i personally don't give a single fuck about him beating MMA fighters. i don't feel like i need to display any kind of loyalty to any of them, and i'm not really a fan of askren or woodley.

and to be completely honest, i haven't seen rahman fight yet, so i have no idea if he's any good or not. he seems like a big fella, and he's the first opponent paul has faced that has actually fought before. everyone before him was either making their debut or having just lost to jake. this is definitely a step up.

what jake paul needs to do to satisfy me (hehe) is to shut the fuck up for five minutes and not act like a manchild. he is insufferable in every interview. as far as his fighting career, a steady stream of people his size, with a comparable amount of boxing experience would definitely help. if his next 5 opponents have solid records and have actually trained boxing professionally for several years, i'll definitely respect his fighting record a lot more.

Wow probably the most civil discussion I've had on Sherdog -- much appreciated.

His personality sucks and sadly, that is what sells. The entire world would probably pay to watch Biden vs. Trump because it sells, not because they can scrap. Sadly, it is what it is at this point. I don't like how the celebrity freak-show boxing has taken over. However, I also realize these people are just entrepreneurs trying to take advantage of a market. And even if their personalities are shit, I respect them for getting in the ring and risking the ultimate embarrassment. Especially given the social media climate and how ever fat loser with Cheeto-stained fingers will Tweet at you if you lose.

I watched some Rahman highlights and he does not look very good. I'm actually shocked that he has 100 amateur fights along with 13 pro fights. Which lends a lot of credibility to the question; What is a real boxer? I'm not sure if he's mailed it in because his dad gave him a good life, or if he actually sucks. He certainly has more skill than Askren, but he does not appear to be more skilled than Woodley if I am being honest. Then again, he is fighting "real" boxers....maybe?

In my personal opinion, everyone needs to take their medicine if Jake wins this fight. Not because that means he's a good boxer, but because he took the risk and fought someone with a real boxing pedigree. I also expect him to gloat like an asshole and get a new-found ego, which makes him more insufferable. Not sure he wins this one though.

I’ve heard this match up being floated around if Nate leaves the UFC. Who do I guys think wins? I honestly think Jake flatlines him as bad as he did Woodley.

Jake has a real boxing test coming up next. Let's see if he even wins that first. Doubt it.

Paul wins. Nate’s boxing, like everyone else’s in the UFC, is complete shit even when comparing to YouTube level fighters.

Close fight, Jake has the size and power while Nate has the volumen and cardio, I think Nate could get the win because of his work rate but it's close

Nate is pillow-fisted, not sure his volume would work with bigger boxing gloves.

If Nate were a legit 170 I think it would have been interesting. Nate's boxing technique is certainly better than Woodley's but I think Nate, who's really a 155 or maybe 160 naturally, is too small to move Paul.

Paul by decision, purely points. Can't see Diaz being apart of his KO reel though.

That's a good point and Jake is taller so he would be hard to reach but Jake's cardio looked like shit against Woodley so maybe Nate could tire him out by throwing a million pillow fists

Nate doesn't have a high work rate, volume, or elite conditioning anymore. People look at his old fights and not his recent fights to analyze it. Watch the Leon fight, his boxing level is weaker than it's been in his previous fights, his volume/pace and conditioning is also at a lower level. If they box Jake Paul would be the biggest fighter and hardest puncher he's ever fought. Conor sat him down multiple times and everyone saw how little punch power Conor had with boxing gloves. Nate would get finished when he boxes Jake Paul. It's going to happen that's why Nate is fighting out of his contract right now instead of waiting for it to end in October. His next fight will be vs Jake Paul in boxing for his retirement fight and last pay day.

It’s a bad matchup for Diaz. At least Woodley has some power which Paul had to respect at least for the first part of the fight. Jake Ko/tkos Nate with ease.
