So, just remember this the next time someone says "both parties are the same" (or if you are tempted to say such a thing yourself).

Yesterday, the HOUSE passed a bill upping the Caronavirus relief amount to $2k rather than $600.

The voting breakdown was this:

Democrats: Yes- 266 .......... No- 2
Republican: yes- 44............ No- 130

And of course the bill is probably dead on arrival in the REPUBLICAN Senate.

So, unless $2,000 = $600, Democrats =/= Republicans.

A waste.

People don't need the govt to write them checks. They need for governors to re-open fully the economy so they can support themselves.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. ALLOW him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime

But bro? Some 99 year old with health issues might die. Fuck the economy, we need to save the 99 year old man!!!!

The problem is Republicans don't care about Americans, they only care about themselves.

How much was offered in that bill that got stalled on the floor pre-election? Honestly curious. All I can recall about it is that it was twice the size of this one.

I'm sorry, but transexual fish reproduction on Neptune has no place in a COVID pill. The pork barrel spending and lobbying and pay for access to politicians needs to stop, and I'm glad there is a party trying to drain the swamp and get corruption out of American politics.

The ideology of doing nothing sticking to its guns. Shocking even in defeat.

The 99 year old man would rather his grand kids live in a free country

Yeah, but liberals need their pats on the backs and enjoy their circle jerks on Twitter. Opening up the economy would take that away from them!!!!

The direct check amount was between $2,000 and $2,400 in that bill. Once again, that bill passed the House easily but wasn't even given a vote in the Senate.

There are no provisions in the Caronavirus Relief bill that eliminate American freedoms, so its a shame that your 99 year old guy is operating under a false dilemma.

Probably caused by decades of too much talk radio and Fox News.

Is this the HEROES act? While I commend them passing something even Dem leaning economists said that Bill was nothing but a farce and a political manuever. That's how I felt when it passed too.

The Republicans still deserve all the grief they get for thinking $600 is enough but don't forget plenty of Dems called the $600 "substantial" as well when they tried to sell it to us.

What a scummy post. A 99 year old man has just as much right to live on this planet for another day as a young person has to have a particular job.

Conservatives have lost the moral high ground in so many ways over the last 4 years... backing a philandering teen pageant owning pedo wing-manning con artist is one thing, their willingness to sacrifice the elderly to appease him is another. Ironic it cost them their coveted presidency. A well deserved self own if there ever was one.

It really got to me when they tried to make it impossible for people with pre-existing conditions to buy health insurance.

Just kill this bill and reopen the economy and make government control their spending.
Lol, that's not what happens. Have you been paying attention over the last four years when the allegedly "fiscally conservative" party was in power? We spent out the wazoo.

Listen, corporations are going to get theirs. That's just the way it is. The sooner you accept it, the better.

The question is, are the American people going to insist that they at least get something in the deal as well? Like, do we even have the spine to insist that if the elites want to keep their corporate gravy train rolling, they give us something, too?

Put it another way:

Our current model is socialism for the rich and powerful, and rugged individualism for everyone else.

You are saying you want rugged individualism for everybody, the rich and powerful included. Now, this may or may not be a good idea (I don't think it is, but put that aside for now). The point is it's NOT happening. Ever. Why do you think corporations spend billions lobbying, not to get favors?

If there is enough money to provide socialism for the rich, then there is enough money to provide a little socialism for us, too.

Wasn't it Trump who floated the idea of 2000 dollar stimulus after the House passed the 600 dollar bill?
