Social The homeless issue in The US.

Paying more taxes to the government can solve this problem. Government is the solution to everything. It is the most efficient organization filled with the most intelligent people.

The solution lies with Gavin Newsom. He has been paying special attention to the problem in California. He's made incredible progress and the homeless problem is almost gone. When the DNC runs him in 2028 you will see what a real leader can do.

giggity.....let's get a good groove...

I've read that a good amount of the homeless seen over the past 4 years while Biden was in office was due to Biden's open border policies. Allowing 10 million plus people into the US caused housing problems, and resulting in more homeless living on the streets. Many blue cities such as Chicago, New York, Denver, Boston struggled with this problem. Trump is being more aggressive on illegal aliens being in America. He is looking to deport them. It wouldn't surprise me if this helps with the homeless problem in the US.

Course there are other causes of people being homeless that being addressed would help the situation. Drug use and mental health medical issues being two big issuing leading to homelessness. Currently Trump is trying to get China, Mexico and Canada to stop shipments of drugs into America that is contributing to the homeless problem. the current tariffs on Mexico, China, and Canada are due to the drug smuggling issue and border security.

I did see this morning that some are trying to resolve the "homeless" issue by renaming it urban camping. That isn't going to help the problem but it is a game the left media all to often likes to play.

Media Tries to Redefine ‘Homelessness’ as ‘Urban Camping’

Surely changing the term will help.

I think another tax increase was just passed in LA for some homeless nonsense. Meanwhile last year something like 2 billion dollars dedicated to the homeless crisis just went missing lol. Bring back asylums or send them all to Barstow imo.

My old career put me right in the center of the homeless, and their offending. Throwing money at the problem and simply giving people a house doesn't work. I saw homeless people literally being given a brand new home free of charge and within 6 months it was trashed and resembled some Victorian slum and often used as a trap house.

To an extent the homeless are their own community. Free from societal control where they can do virtually anything they want, drink, do drugs, steal, rape etc. it's a parallel society in which some people fall into through ignorance, but is usually down to their own choice and lack of will to change. I think in 20 years I only met one person who was homeless through no fault of his own .

My take is that towns and cities are too big now, and they foster an underclass like this that is allowed to exist. If we still lived in much smaller villages then there would be more social pressure to stay away from the influences that lead to homelessness. We've created anonymous societies where people simply vanish into the background.

I've worked in London in these areas but nothing prepared me for the literal slums when I visited LA and San Francisco. It's doomsday stuff

Is our boy in the Oval Office gonna do something about it? Is it a world wide problem? How come it’s mostly Americans and not the immigrants?
Can't speak for America but in Canada the refugees get precedent over the local homeless population

No point in trying to fix it. Its not fixable.

Also, it's another fake talking point before every election.

Can't afford to lose any disingenuous narratives. You need a steady cycle of issues nobody has any appetite or ability to resolve, literal talking points that people like Trump have zero interest in.

Where are the refugees from? Sounds like a red hat conspiracy theory. Here in the United States people are let in at the border by the thousands, daily and then media calls them illegal. When they were let in. Weird.

Somalia Sudan Pakistan etc. Its not a a conspiracy. It's called real-life outside the internet . My wife works in the field . They brag about being able to house a refugee in 13 days .

I believe you. Canada needs these high production low wage workers and they become consumers. They won’t keep any of the money they make because they will spend it in Canada.

Everyone has made bad decisions in life. Many of the homeless are people who made a few bad decisions, but didn't have anyone to bail them out.

Canada would rather spend money on them because they will Work and produce more than a craked out blue eyed meth head. Those homeless people in the USA used to be in prison but laws changed and now they are out on the streets but cannot function independently because for the most part they are lacking in ability to think rationally. They love to be free from responsibility they love drugs and the government has methadone clinics in all the cities to keep them that way. It’s a mess.

Complete opposite. They have no problem living in subpar conditions. I'd assume most of their money gets sent home and They treat the shelter system like their permanent residence. There's certain apartment landlords (slumlords) who only want to house refugees. More incentives from the government , less they gotta spend on living conditions

No they wont lol these people aren't typically doing high value jobs in Canada. Yeah you'll get a bit of tax money but it will be outweighed significantly by the cost of social services.

Define high value job. A low wage job like an agricultural worker often produces more in the long run than a highly paid doctor at a hospital

Spoken like someone who has never dealt with someone who is homeless

It's a situation I never understood. I traveled a bunch of different places and I was surprised at the variety of homelessness situations in different countries, including very poor countries.

In some places people are poor, but nobody is starving and everybody has a roof over their heads.
In some places I've seen literal infants in boxes on the street side.
I've seen tent towns like you see in LA.
I've seen cities where there are homeless people but very few and far between.

All these countries with various economic statuses, demographics, drug problems, etc. I couldn't figure out what the main factor is. Some countries have homelessness even though there is no drug epidemic. Some countries don't have homelessness even though they have a low GDP.
Homelessness is mostly due to lack of momentum for housing, with other factors weighing in.

That's why some low GDP countries don't have much homeless, because housing is still within reach.
