Obama always holds a press conference when a cop kills a black man.

Obama should hold a press conference, be very frank and tell these leftists, which are probably his voters, to quit destroying their own cities.

Hillary should do it too.
no no no, please continue on, torch the earth

For context, the Pearl is an area right next to downtown that used to be very run down. old warehouse district. Then developers came in and gentrified the fuck out of it. There were a lot of rich people up in their lofts shitting bricks last night. Talked to a guy who lives there this morning. He didn't get a good night's rest.

No. The goal of the majority of protesters is to show (1) the world that Portland, for one, will not accept a Trump presidency, and (2) Trump that he best not try to visit.

The violent elements that are coming out at night are straight up anarchists. Their goal is to create chaos to destabilize all existing power structures.

I think they are quite safe on point #2. I somehow doubt Portland is high up the list of places the God-Emperor wants to visit.

You never know. Bush tried to visit once. Trump might think he can go and mend fences. But there will be none of that in Portland.

Portland Protesters put out a list of demands:

Just heard one of the car dealers on local radio talk about the car vandalism. I guess someone put in an offer on a damaged car and got a good deal, lol.

Maybe I would have had sympathy if these people protested Hillary, when it came out the DNC and Democratic black caucus sidelined Bernie, and gave her the win

Will people just riot there if he comes?
We are gonna riot anyways. I am expecting a Bundy-style occupation over the weekend. But yes, there would be a massive riot if he tried to step foot in PDX.

I didn't know you guys had all that up there. At least to that degree.

Portland's been close to boiling point with Obama in office. Trump's election combined with some other more local issues tipped it over the edge.

Ok thanks. I had no idea of that.
You have to understand that Portland is much to the left of the left in the USA, and while we are doing very well economically, there is a growing divide between the haves and the have nots. Most people can't afford to live here anymore. It's difficult to find a two bedroom house anywhere in the middle of the city for under 400k. Rent has increased by more than 100% in the last few years. There are at once both way more rich people here than there has ever been, and more homeless, many with severe mental health issues that are not being adequately addressed and which create about the only public safety risk in town. Our police are not liked by the community, and don't seem to feel any need to serve in the way that the community wants.

Well be safe up there.

It's not dangerous, at least not for me. There's more chance that I'd be hit by a stray flash bang than be attacked by the rioters. The vast majority are peaceful, and those that aren't are specifically targeting corporate commercial places that, frankly, I don't care to have around anyway. My office isn't too far away from where the marchers are going, but I am a lawyer who represents people against corporate interests. At my office now and it is perfectly fine.
