The organizers of these "protests" are paid, and some people use it as an excuse for vandalism (though we've seen evidence that some of the people vandalizing are also paid).

It's keeps being repeated but I'll say it again. The reactions to Trumps election only reaffirms why people voted for him in the first place and proves them right. For the most part it's not Trump and his supporters who are the mindless, brainwashed, illogical, knee jerk reactionary, hate filled, intolerant ones. Him now sitting in the White House is a push back against this shitty attitude and behavior that people have endured for too long.

No. The goal of the majority of protesters is to show (1) the world that Portland, for one, will not accept a Trump presidency, and (2) Trump that he best not try to visit.

The violent elements that are coming out at night are straight up anarchists. Their goal is to create chaos to destabilize all existing power structures.
