In essence, the political, corporate and media elites dismissed blue collar workers and rural Americans' concerns for years, portraying them as nothing more than angry white men who are racists and misogynists. These people are disappointed in the system, which they perceived is screwing them. They held their tongue because of the fear of being labelled as some fringe lunatic by the left, but Trump's candidacy gave them an outlet for their anger.
