The Great Roy Jones Jr

Sure it is.

Your argument was that Tyson was bigger than Marciano so its unfair to compare them. I think thats a shit argument but I didn't say that. I just added my own argument.
.

huh ? that's not the argument at all.

you said " if michael spinks was a blown up light heavy , so was charles "

i simply said that the heavyweights of that time were only 7-8 lbs heavier than their light heavyweight counterparts . so calling someone like charles a " blown up " light heavyweight is an overstatment . most of his opponents at heavy were roughly the same size as him . that's it .

he WAS bigger than Marciano so he actually sucked

i assume you're attributing this to me ?
classic seano red herring .

I then made a post that seemed obviously light hearted and then you started quetioning intelligence.

i questioned your intelligence because you aggressively responded to a post that was clearly not directed at you .it had nothing to do with the argument in the other thread.

accusing people of being " bitter " and getting " smacked around " is nothing new for you .you did the same to the president few weeks ago .
maybe you should put more effort into making your "jokes" more obvious, another poster didn't see the joke either.

Marciano and tyson were both HWs. If you're going to make distintions then thats not a fair ranking system. Heavyweight is heavyweight. People have compared Ali and Marciano for years and years even though Ali was also a bigger fighter.

The weight limit for HW in Tyson's prime was 191 pounds. CW was 190 then. So because Tyson was bigger, that means when he beats a former light heavy, its irrelevant but when Maciano does because he was smaller, its a great accomplishment? Thats bullshit.

Again you are applying different criteria to different eras of the same weight class. Should we be comparing Marciano to David Haye and Evander Holyfield? 185 is cruiserweight. I'm not sure how you don't see the hypocrisy of your argument.

Sam Langford didn't even weigh that much. Often didn't even make the HW limit for some of his fights. So does he count as a legit heavy? Because if not, then I have more fuel for my argument against Jack Johnson as a great too. Johnson had almost 30 pounds on Langford. what a joke right?

On top of old smooookey.....

damn it, that's supposed to be all caps so it sounds like I'm drowning the argument out, but the forum won't let me do all caps.

I disagree with people that say he was only successful because of his athleticism and he had no real skill (I'm not sure what that even means, tbh). He developed the absolute perfect style to compliment his physical gifts of handspeed, footspeed, and unbelievable power. It was an unorthodox style, to be sure, but it was also effective as hell. As he got older, he developed a moderate ability to jab too, to go along with the the lead rights, body shots and that left hook of doom.

From the combo punching to the fantastic defensive skills to the foot work, the guy was, IMO, the absolute GOAT in his prime. Sadly, once he hit 35 he no longer had the legs to make his style work. And the fact that he fought on for about 10 years after Tarver sparked him and he was pretty much shot is an unfortunate example of not knowing when to let go.

Roy Jones chin was never in par with his athletic ability. It's sad seeing him fight at this point in time; he must need money bad. His one ko away from being retarded.

I know Tommy Hearns called him out, there was no answer from Jones.

One of the best Kd's has to be Roy and Toney.

Reminded me of a old chicken fight when they flair up their feathers right before thy attack. Roy put his hands down on the side, Toney mimicked him, then boom Roy pounces with a fast hook and pow toney is stumbling back.

Jones didn't have the moxie to get in the ring with this killer:

Did he call Roy out after he beat Virgil Hill and he was in his mid-30's? Tommy would've been slaughtered by RJJ at that point in his career. Badly, methinks.
