Crime The Gabby Petito case.

if you're on a trip with your gf and she goes missing, don't contact anyone .. drive back 1000 miles to your place, don't say anything and act as if nothing happened .. he's either guilty as hell or very naive/dumb

The cops just went into the Laundrie house with what looked like a search warrant while some other cops searched a car in the driveway.

So yes, story is scary and tragic and hopefully there somehow is a good or ok outcome for it. 22 year old girl has gone missing in Grand Teton National park. She was on a cross country road trip with her boyfriend. The boyfriend returned home without her earlier this month, won't talk with authorities, and the family reported her missing over the weekend. August 12th there was a domestic incident between Gabby and her boyfriend, police body cam makes it seem the girl was the aggressor. Boyfriend looks hella guilty, but police not ruling out it being related to a double homicide at a MOAB campsite around that time.

I am seeing it EVERYWHERE tho. Every Local news station running multiple articles a day. MSN homepage on new tabs at work. There are how many missing persons/suspected deceased cases in America, and why is this one so prominent all around? CNN and FOX both have it as website homepage stories.

Young pretty Caucasian women traveling the USA and missing.. They always do stories on them my guy, Come on lol.

Well, according to the consensus formed in the other thread, it's because she's white and blonde. And pretty.

Well considering when minorites are missing there's some truth to that.

Regardless everyone should care when someone is missing. That's someone's daughter and I feel for them.

You're not understanding the nuance between saying nothing in a police interrogation (smart) vs. what the boyfriend did (not smart). Criminal trials have a jury and the suspect's bizarre, unempathetic behaviour will be showcased and analysed. Without evidence, nothing ever happens. But if police finds evidence such as mobile records, debit / credit card purchases, blood, signs of a struggle or even the body, there's more than enough there for the jury to link the suspect's behaviour to the crime and convict.
No, you’re not understanding that the main criticism of him has been his lack of willingness to speak with investigators. Should he have reported his girlfriend missing? I don’t know, depends on what his story is. His position can be that they had a nasty breakup and she left, he was emotional so he drove home. A good attorney can easily build a credible picture for a jury even with the facts we know now, the standard for a conviction is BEYOND reasonable doubt. All the so called “suspicious” behavior can be explained away by a decent lawyer. What can’t be explained away is saying to cops that you were doing x while in fact you were doing y.

all I see is blondes, brunettes, and redheads

This was my first reaction when out of the blue a friend sent me a headline about this. At first I assumed she was some young celebrity unfamiliar to me. I see tons of stories like that, nowadays. All these "influencers" and "rappers" who are just like the D-level celebrities of yesteryear. They exist in spheres entirely outside my awareness.

But when I realized this girl was just some random nobody, I thought, "What about this case is cause for national obsession? People go missing all the time."

I think part of it has to do with the traffic stop in Utah. But yeah people go missing all the time.

Weirdly it's even made "world news" feeds over here. I'm guessing it's determined by traffic. Damsel in distress stories always play well, even when there isn't a youtube channel and instagram accounts worth of pictures and footage for them to use.
Sadly, from the details, I would assume the fiance has killed her and done a runner.

Apparently she's a "travel influencer", so I'm guessing she posts videos on Tik Tok or Youtube, so has some kind of following.
The story so far reads like one of these Netflix Documentaries, it's just happening in real time.
There's a lengthy video of the police pulling her and her boyfriend over and talking with them, so we can get a glimpse of who they are and what they are like.
And the whole thing with the boyfriend is just bizarre. It would seem that the guy would've been arrested on the spot.
I don't get how a girl can go missing, you come back with her car---without her---and then can refuse to answer questions.

It's his legal right to not answer questions. Most regular folks don't know this, but you should NEVER talk to the cops, for any reason. Always lawyer up. Cops are fucking scumbags who will railroad you just to clear a case. They'll twist everything you say, even if it's an innocent mistake, and use it as evidence against you. The kid is being smart, never talk to them.

He's obviously guilty, she's missing and he's refusing to co-operate with efforts to find her. There's only one reason you'd do that.

Because journalism is dead, and it’s been dead for a very long time now, that’s why.

To be fair, some of those are just different area channels of the same news network.

But it's funny seeing Fox, CBS, ABC, etc. all using the same script hahaha

Young pretty white girls draw clicks/ratings.

It's just a fact. Whether talking about the ones that go cray cray and kill their kids, or boyfriends, or the ones that end up victims themselves. The media just pushes what they know people will watch. And for whatever reason, American's will stay tuned for this.
