Media The first ever champ vs. champ fight in UFC history went down 16 years ago yesterday

Aren't you supposed to celebrate on the actual day? Imo, this is a happy birthday yesterday kinda situation.

Rampage vs Hendo?
Excellent point! I have always wondered, although not advertised as such, would UFC 14 be considered a unification of UFC and Battlecade HW champions? Also what about the old school super fights. That would be UFC 6. Or how about UFC 5 when Shamrock as Pancrase champ going against Royce Gracie, 3x UFC Champ? idk, maybe I am just full of shit

My 30th birthday party.

I had around 50 or so people at my first house I owned, party mostly centered around the bar I built/upgraded in the basement.

LSD, Absinthe, keg, band, fucking great night.

My mother in law stopped by when I was right about peaking on acid to give my wife a dresser and my beautiful friends ran interference, went upstairs, moved that giant piece of furniture for me so I wouldn't have to deal with that ornery old bag and ruin my trip.

Then GSP kicked the ever loving dogshit out of BJ.

I remember it oddly well, all things considered.

Time flies.

The first Champ vs Champ fight in UFC was Dan vs Ken 2; arguably the most exciting fight ever!!👹🏆☘️

That fight got kind of slow. The barnburner was when these two fought at UFC 6.

I think if you look at everything before it, the first proper champ vs champ was Coleman vs Severn. Severn was on a long winning streak, beating Sham and winning the UU 1. Coleman had looked unbeatable when he devastated Frye and won the UFC 10 title.

That was the way to do it. I used to do the same thing back in that era have an epic party and have a couple bands play. Nobody seems down for that kind of thing these days
