The fight that defined GSP

How could GSP ever live down such shame?

Shocked he didn't hang himself by his shoelaces in his closet years ago..

GSP thought he was a solid striker, he also thought Matt Serra was a big can and decided he will play around for a round, to test his striking skills. He didn't go for a single take down, he thought this fight is too easy and a good opportunity to test his striking skills, maybe get a nice KO highlight.

He never fought on his feet again. This was the last time he played the striker. In the rematch he would take Serra down in the first 2 seconds and repeatedly take him down when Serra stood up.
This was the fight that turned GSP into the ufc wrestling control freak and according to many the most boring ufc champ to this day with 0 finishes.

Stay triggered and ignorant.

GSP is the best. Some sherdog fruitloop's opnions of him don't change reality.

Buyrates don't lie either. He was factually more cared about than 99.9% of MMA fighters in the history of MMA.

Theres no shame in losing to jake sheilds the guy is an all time.great but when he beats you up on the feet for a few rounds thats like losing a k1 fight to cm punk.

He poked GSP in the eye.. Before that he was getting blasted on the feet and nearly KO'd..

In hindsight ( the rockhold he beat- "context ")- however coach P saw something and Bisping made most of it- I can't take that away from him.

However- who's the only guy Bisping overwhelmed on the feet ?

A past it Cung Le ?
OR

A mid tier middle in Jorge Rivera where he intentionally ( illegally) kneed in head/face ?

So - Yes - to a degree....and maybe I'm being a bit unfair ( I have an admitted bias against the fighter, bisping)
I admire the guy for fighting on,risking blindness and having to hear the constant ridicule from the fans, which all stems back to the time the JUDGES gave him the nod against hamill. If he listened to people,he would have quit long ago, never won the MW title...instead he provided a great life for his family by taking so many fights, and against many dangerous guys like Rockhold,Anderson,Hendo,Belfort,Kennedy, etc, and also worked hard to improve his striking in his mid thirties.

and second, when he battled back from the Condit head kick.
That took extreme toughness and the kind of aggression that most people cant get out of GSP,cos he doesnt need to go to that dark place in his head sometimes,to beat people, but condit broiught the animal out of GSP and it was beautiful to see how bad GSP wanted it.

Yea, there are SO many fighters that would have gotten finished after getting hit by that switch kick.
GSP was impressive to get guard and then get back to his feet.

For example, imagine Weidman taking a shot like that in the 4th round of a fight. He would have been TKO’d seconds later.

GSP couldnt see out of one eye,.

How people will discredit Bisping's striking when he has landed more strikes than anyone else in the division by nearly 600 strikes, at the very least, is beyond me. Do people really think the only reason he was able to do this is because of his conditioning, or that he was this consistent due to pure luck?

People also act like he beat up a bunch of old guys.

1. Bisping wasn't young either.
2. He did it with one eye.

Imagine if he trained with Parillo his entire career?

Hey- good for him , the money he made and I actually love listening to him talk mma. What my eyes have seen( pun intended), I try and call it straight. Rockhold aside- let's go through the names u mentioned. He edged a past it Anderson ( dont get me started how that fight came about and who he was supposed to fight), again an aged Henderson who he was " supposed " to flat out handle in his backyard. The Vitor fight , I think, was a pk'em fight and a not the best of version Belfort creamed him.
He was a -185 favorite against Tim Kennedy and THAT WAS the fight where I then knew where bisping belonged in the world of the 185 division. Until that fight, I really never came down on Bisping even though most his fights were underwhelming. He had lost every single " contender " fight and I was still giving him the benefit/doubt.

Everything said- I still call Mike a very good / solid fighter. I just cant go beyond that.Thats just my honest opinion.

I'm glad someone mentioned that fight .I didnt want to get " into it" with Jake die hards .

This did not define GS0 lmao what a crock of shit

The second fight with hughes defined GSP..he crossed over the hurdle in that fight from top contender to elite champion level fighter by conquering his mental issues from the first fight...something he would call opon again when he beat serra

Thats the fight that defined GSP

Lol- Bising appreciates the facts and figures but at the end of the day, what was his % in " relevant " fights ?
What 31 % ?

He caught lightning in a bottle with rockhold ( which was validated with his 3 fights after that ). He got a sympathy injury call up....and made the most of it.
