The fertitta's will regret selling

They were already rich. It's at 9.2 billion now, so more than double what they sold for.

that was in 2016. Its 2.25x in 5 years. Which seems impressive, but the S&P500 has done basically the same during that time - went from 2200 to 4700.
And thats the most basic investment. Lets say they dumped some of it in some more lucrative stuff, like say Tesla, they could have made 5 or 10x[/QUOTE]

More like the TS will regret making this horrible thread.

I’m sure the Fertitias need your business advise lol. You’re thinking of this like it was some meme stock. Bottom line is that WME is taking the UFC to heights Zuffa couldn’t. The Fertitas did an amazing job and their wealth will only continue to grow with their other endeavors.

Lorenzo and Frank have donated nearly $10 million to grimy politicians. I would have rather seen that $$$ go to their fighters over the years.

They are business men who are obviously looking to benefit with every transaction, more billions is always better, especially if you have children and are looking to build generational wealth

The brothers are worth 3 billion each, is that not enough generational wealth?

Yeah I think I'll trust the business sense of two billionaires rather than a random sherdog poster.

well, the ppl who bought it have better resumes when it comes to money and business

An entertainment company raises the value of the UFC, because that's their strength. Fertittas are casino owners. The UFC has been great for their main business and they can transition to other sports of interest as well since they're known and richer because of the UFC. So it's a win-win for both.

But from a fan perspective, that the UFC cares little about, a media company means looking more at numbers. Fight fans don't care about what your average ESPN card draws, they care more about card quality and relevance of match-ups. The Fertittas did that better, so they can regret about the direction the sport is going despite the numbers, as they largely made it.

I don't think they regret it. It was a hell of a lot of work, stress and risk getting it to where it was.

Who's to say that MMA won't be some kind of a fad and die out in a decade or so? Boxing has had a very cyclic lifespan with big ups and downs.

The key to successful businesses is to buy cheap and sell when its worth a lot more and they succeeded admirably in that respect.

They never really wanted the fame or power that Dana has had, they were always in the background despite being majority owners.

I guess if their goal was to be the richest brothers on the planet you might have a point. Otherwise who cares. I'm sure they are at the point that neither they nor the next five generations of Fertittas will have to work if they don't want to.

They didn't build it from "nothing." The UFC was already fully formed and functional when they "bought" it from Bob Meyrowitz' SEG. SEG only sold to the Frittatas because they couldn't get event permits to generate money. Remember, there was a fight for legalization of this sport due to it being perceived as "human cockfighting" by some. In fact, if Lorenzo hadn't denied the UFC event permits when he was head of the NSAC, SEG might have never sold to the Frittatas at all....

This is the correct answer.

No. Not just anyone can start a casino. They are their own special license to print money off of the rubes. Heck, even Lorenzo and Frank's father was banned from the casino because of his involvement in the money skim which was portrayed in the movie, "Casino." Those guys were "affiliated," if you know what I mean. Also, running the UFC is a pain in the ass because it is such a specialized, niche, sport, and because it relies on people from questionable social and financial status being coerced by social and economic pressures to participate. This is why so many fighters walk away when they get a taste of real money. They are better off with the casinos, which are easier to run.

You are correct. They tried to buy the Raiders. They have a private venture fund that invests their money.
