Movies THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS (Full Trailer, post #64)

Hollywood had a great chance at a cooler retro 60's FF sometime in the mid-2000's. George Clooney as Reed Richards doing a sort of Cary Grant-Hugh Beaumont pipe smoking type patriarch combined with world class scientist and explorer, Naomi Watts as his younger wife part 60's housewife part Aliens era Ellen Ripley, Ron Pearlman as The Thing- the loyal gruff Jewish best friend cursed with a permanent monstrous transformation, and there's a handful of actors that could have done Johnny Storm back then. Add Jason Isaacs as Dr. Doom, Galactus as an Old Testament Biblical-Lovecraftian hybrid entity and The Silver Surfer as his heralding angel of death that turns hero. With that cast and concept it could have been something special even with the fx limitations of the time. I mean Ghostbusters did an apocalyptic Old Testament-Lovecraftian hybrid deity with Gozer pretty damn well all the way back in '84

This may end up being fine, but with almost all adaptations and properties for far too long I've thought more about what could have been than enjoying what was, so I don't have a lot of hope

This could have been killer. I honestly think it took a few failures for Marvel to realize they had to go retro to introduce a live action FF. And if the multiverse angle wasn't already primed for it, I don't think they would have developed this story at all.

Did you expect anything else, given they cast Pascal, Hollywood's go-to Cuck, as Reed?

And while I'd be happy to give Kirby the best thirty seconds of both our lives, I'm sorry, she's just not hot enough to play Sue. If both the Sub-Mariner and Doctor Doom have tried to get inside your panties, you have to be an LA 9 at the very least.

(Ms Sweeney, please report to Make Up...)
