Multiplat The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered Discussion

so I did every quest in the game that gives you a follower but I didn't complete any of them. I now got 9 dudes following me around everywhere I go playing on Master, this is how the game is meant to be played
lol, you have to take a screenshot, or a video clip. I can just imagine the random small talk they engage in cities.

DL'ing the game now. Google says spellsword is the best class. Is it fun and, if not, what is a more fun alternative?

Depends on what you like, but generally strict melee is meh. Stealth archery always owns, but some people think it gets too easy.

The good thing is that no matter what, you can always change it up. You just start using whatever skills you want. Nothing is really off limits to you, you're starting class and skills is mostly just time saving.

Stealth archer is king in these games. Everything else besides a straight up Mage, is a bit of a struggle with the mechanics. Totally doable, as it's not exactly a hard game, but if you don't want to be annoyed with the camera and whatnot, you want a ranged build of some sort.

I bought it yesterday. It annoys me I couldn't get it on a disc. Anyway I haven't played it since 2009 on the PS3 and wanted to try again.

best class is a jack of all trades, if you become too specialized you level up too fast and become overpowered but if you max out the difficulty to compensate it doesn't make the combat harder just longer and more tedious.

Started playing this a couple nights ago. Definitely better than my short lived attempt at playing this for the first time a couple years ago.

Still, I don't know if I'm going to play this all the way through this time.

Even though that clip got cut at an interesting time I do have to say there is some legit racism in TES games... in concerns to the races you get to play as.

I remember playing a wood elf and every town I visited had some villagers that had some shit to say about fur in the ears, or they'd just call you bosmer or some shit like that. The games are full of xenophobic NPCs.

It was pretty terrible in Morrowind which i think in lore at the time was the only nation where slavery was still legal and of course was the last to eventually outlaw it. The vast majority of the slaves you encountered in Morrowind were Argonian and Khajit.

Oblivion i haven't encountered anything as such on my recent playthrough but then i've been levelling rather than questing so i don't have to worry about levelled items and such. Skyrim of course had Nord nationalism as a core theme and some obvious persecution in cities like Windhelm.

Elder Scrolls history is littered with racism, slavery and subjugation. While it isn't nice i can appreciate it for making these virtual worlds feel lived in and authentic.

Just avoid the damn gate when you first encounter it... At least for a little bit... iirc

If you mean the Kvatch mission that can be quite painful at higher levels. IMO better to get that one out of the way very early.

Nah, you want to do those gates immediately. The higher you go, the more stupidly hard they get.

Of all the things they should patch, it's that level scaling bullshit with the Oblivion gates. The rest of the game deals with it fine, but the gates get absolutely retarded.

I just remember attacking the first oblivion gate I came across then they started appearing everywhere. If you don't go into the first one, it remains the only one iirc... The scaling was stupid. One thing I loved about Morrowind which made it feel like a PC game (played it on Xbox) was you could walk off the boat, day one, and enter a cave north of the first village where bandits were level 20+ and would annihilate you. It gave incentive to backtrack and remember things which offered the perception of greater reward once you could get past it... Oblivion lacked that imo

I can't remember how vital closing the gates are to completing the game, but I'm pretty sure you have to close a certain amount of them to advance, so you eventually have to start clearing them. I've heard two ways you should do it. Either right at the beginning where you and the enemies are equally shit, or at the very last possible moment where you're practically a God. Anything in between that, and you're getting proper fucked.

I never actually beat the game, but I remember the gates being on a completely different level than the world. Little shit goblins are shooting fireballs at you that scorch you for like 40% health, and they take like 20 hits to die. Then when you manage to actually get into the tower(or whatever) and it's nothing but beefed up end game enemies killing you in two or three hits. I believe I got through a few by save scumming, and it just burned me out and killed my interest in the game.

They were frustrating and I remember them feeling way too difficult early on. I swear only one shows up first and remains where it is until you investigate but once you do then they appear every so many steps or every half hour or something and they appear everywhere! I think you can avoid interacting with the original one and no additional ones will appear while you explore and do side quests, I could be wrong.

The game was good but doesn't need a remaster. Morrowind needs a remake imo, clean it up and fix the combat and leveling a bit while filling out dungeons (dwemer ones especially) with more rewards for exploring and now we're talking! Morrowind had much better atmosphere and was more hardcore which I prefer.

so after alot of power leveling i managed to max out every single skill except for speechcraft which is now at 89. i hit level 44 and cannot level up any farther without going to jail an absurd amount of time. so i won't be able to level up a few more times to train speechcraft without going to jail like over a thousand times.

i should have put my training into speechcraft instead of other skills that were easier to level. but i don't even want to bother leveling that shit anymore cause it doesn't really do much and the level 100 perk is more useless than my dick after a heroin bender so i don't think i'll put in the rest of the time in to level that shit. but the completionist in me thinks otherwise. i took the trouble to max everything else out, some in the most cheesiest and ridiculous ways, so why not get everything?
