Multiplat The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered Discussion

My guy looks like Mick Jagger with waardenburg syndrome

looks like a guy who you wouldn't want to cross paths with who is sick of everybodies shit.

I always thought Oblivion was a bit underwhelming. Morrowing and Skyrim had a kind of grittiness that made the world worth exploring but in Oblivion everything pretty much felt the same. It never felt worth exploring new areas,

i put on some chameleon enchanted gear which makes my character look invisible. changed it and the effect won't go away. i can see myself in 3rd person view but in first person view my hands are now giving the chameleon effect until i swing my weapon.

tried resting for a day. reloading my save. it's still buggered up.

alright, removing all my gear and putting it back on has fixed it.

that was a weird one.

Yeah I always got bored too since dungeons always felt the same and weren't really rewarding in terms of exploration or loot. iirc they were all procedurally generated so makes sense.

i had a guard chase me from chorrol all the way to the imperial city. even followed me into an oblivion gate when i was trying to shake him.

and then i was on my horse and some bandit came at me but i guess my horse drew aggro on the bandit cause after i get off my horse to kill the bandit he keeps swinging at my defenseless horse even while i'm swinging on him.

pretty funny stuff. that guard really wanted me dead and that bandit really wanted my stolen horse dead.

Why didn't you kill him in the oblivion realm? No one would have known.

never thought of that. i was just trying to lose him so i could fence some shit i stole.

the only way i managed to shake him off was by putting on my waterwalking necklace and running across the lake while he swam after me. i lost him at the other side and was able to get the thieves guild guy to wipe my bounty before any more guards could show up.

alot of effort i went to just to fence a varla stone.that motherfucker had stamina for days. he's probably still in hot pursuit swimming after me.

Hmm reminds me of that guy from The Other Guys

Remastered is bugged AF.

On Xbox series x....Last night the game stopped saving...sort of. Everytime I saved there was no confirmation and when I went to load game there were no saves at all. Rebooted the game and they were all there.

The world loads in layers on the Xbox, reminds me of running too many mods back in the day. Screen appears, then layers of shaders or textures start loading in on top of everything. Doesn't take too long but would rather look at a cool loading screen and have the world be fully load before appearing on screen.

Also making a quest active takes too many buttons and screens. Still having fun, still feels like janky oblivion to me which was my biggest concern so I'm happy. Gamepass ftw on this one.

I'm just going to wait on this game for a while. I'm still elbow deep in my first Skyrim play-through (late to the game I know) and I've spent a ton of time modding it so it's going at a slow pace.

That should buy me time for the bugs to get worked out and for more mods to develop. I really need to build a new computer too.

I'm really loving this. It's bizarre having gorgeous/modern visuals with the charm/jank of the OG.

One of my fav things, knowing what we know now, is seeing the northern lights over the Skyrim mountains.

There's so much about the game I've forgotten, including the persuasion system, it's a fun mini game.

Performance could be more consistent, which I'm sure they'll adjust with patches, otherwise they knocked this out of the park.

I hope Virtuos is working on the leaked Fallout 3 remaster/remake too. I played part of it with the tale of two wastelands mod, which lets you go near seamlessly from Fallout 3 to New Vegas, with all kinds of QOL improvements. It's still fun to play, especially with the shooting enhancements from New Vegas. If it gets the type of love the Oblivion remaster got, while including the DLC with a fair price again, it's going to make M$ tons of $$/goodwill, something they've desperately needed lately.

Nintendo's greed is an opportunity.

It makes me more excited for the Metal Gear 3 remake, which they're also helping with.

One thing I really wish PC had was shift mapping for keys. Maybe theres a mod or something. Supposedly lots of the old mods are still usable with the remaster.

I chose Adept difficulty. I’m getting murdered at every encounter.
