Can imagine the balls of the guys who competed then

He was 46 when he rematched maurice smith in 2007

Indeed, and the size difference... Huas was 23 yrs old, Pinduka 33... IIRC Huas was around 176 lbs (accordin´to him, but I think he was a lil more tbh) while Pinduka was easily 200 lbs...

To keep everything in to perspective, what do you guys think what was Ruas best win and why? From my point of view his best win was against Gary Goodridge in Pride and why, because this was the first guy who was so powerfull he could ended the fight with just one punch on the button. So definitely more powerfull but not more technical then Ruas! Second fight against Oleg takatarov was also insane!!

The Pinduka fight really put him on the map... The 2nd Oleg fight was pretty sound technically...

I was really enjoyin´ the 1st Maurice fight b4 the injury... Vintage Huas indeed...

I still remember how huge his hands were. Like fucking bricks on the end of his arms. Great stories, thanx

Da Huas crew representin´... Hespect...

Huge fan too...

Fun facts about Huas:

> When he reached the international stage, he was already past his physical prime, but he would even hide his... age!

> Talkin´ about 'secrets'... Huas literally felt he had to 'hide' an injury (fractured hand) to them UFC Officials b4 his beginning @ UFC 7...

> @ UFC 7, he literally introduced the [modern] NHB world to them leg kicks, sure... but also to them foot stomps:

But the truth is...it was pure improvisation.. Marco´s Vale Tudo career had taken place in rings (not cages) where this kind of stalling was less common...
Hence, it was during his 1st UFC fights @ UFC 7 that he got the tip from his ATG Luta Livre coach,
Master Roberto Leitao:

Those foot stomps missed

This series 'The Day...' is about 'extraordinary' moments in NHB/Vale Tudo history.

Today: [Brazilian Vale Tudo Scene]

Was somethin´like an 'urban legend' during the 1990s in the Brazilian Vale Tudo scene...

Master Lacerda, aka 'Mestre da Morte' ('Death Master'), was tryin´to promote his [new] 'TMA', the infamous 'Yawara'...

He made quite a big name for himself, managed to steal one of Carlson´s BB, Edson Carvalho:

Yeahh... the one who started his NHB career @ World Vale Tudo Championship 7 against... Igor...

Tough beginnin for the brand new 'Yawara' style..

Still, Edson was a legit BJJ & Judo dude.. Took his beatin´ like a man...

BTW, Edson had a deadly feud with Wallid too, street fight between 2 Black Belts (and both were Carlson´s students!)... Wallid ended up in hospital (controversial... Wallid claimed Edson got help during the fight...)

Meanwhile, Death Master managed to appear and promote his style on TV:

Poor Edson, who could endure the beatin´Igor gave to him, was no match for Death Master´s 'atomic bomb' (that´s how he called that lil pressure with his 2 fingers...)...

One day, Death Master met...

and he began to tell him about his 'contacts' in the International NHB scene... promisin´ some contracts...

Huas needed the money, and since the Vale Tudo scene in Brazil was quite slow then, he listened to him...

Death Master & Edson introduced him to Master Medhi (legit Judo Master in Rio de Janeiro), and Huas started to 'train' in Master Lacerda´s academy...

One day, Huas (with his no-nonsense approach) asked Master Lacerda to show him somethin´ about this Yawara style, but in... fight situation...
Master Lacerda replied:"No,no,no,no,no...You cant do nothin´to me, you have to let me do my 'thing' without movin´..."

Huas let him do his pressure thing...Nothing... No pain...
Huas left Death Master after this episode...

Must have been Huas´ Capoeira protection thing...

I've read that if your tongue is in the wrong place in your mouth then these techniques don't work, so maybe it was that.

One of those 'modern' trainin´methods Huas had to experience with Death Master:
defendin´a choke while bein´ at the bottom of a swimmin´-pool...
