Surely there would be a gradual switch over like when people gradually upgrade their Tv's rather than waking up to a government bill demanding the end of fossil fuel without nuclear power when there is no clear answer

mmmnaahhhhh.

we probably couldnt switch to completely green energy atm, though i think some towns and even countries have. but this is not like radio to tv. oil/gas companies are some of the most powerful on the planet. if you think they arent lining the pockets of policy makers to drag their feet and stifle green entrepreneurs, paying shills online, then you're silly.

Urban middle class kids that have no idea what life is like outside of their bubble and dumb ass politicians they are about as smart.

What is funny is people have no idea how this will affect them personally.

Let’s say in one year the government mandated that all new vehicles must be hybrid and that within five years all gas vehicles would be removed from the roads.

The people this is going to hurt the most are the poor and middle class.

The ones that can not afford a new car and will have wait to the last moment and get a used hybrid which they can no longer repair themselves.

They are mostly useless window dressing that actually hurt the people she purports to want to help.

This is similar to getting a factory in the third world shut down due to poor working conditions and claiming victory and not looking over your shoulder at the people who are, in fact, now worse off, that you have left behind. The target is the corporation and the press it garners, and the care is not for the collateral damage done to the people.

This push is by the big banks who make far more garnering fees, like NSF's from this cohort and yet are exempt from the usury calculations that others are subject to. Imagine if banks had to publish as an annualized interest rate the NSF of $30 on a $60 cheque like independant financial institutions have to account for fees. You are talking about greater than 2500% annualized interest rate.


If you want to fix this problem the focus needs to be on the charter banks, and not exempt them. They are the ones who have not only fallen down on servicing the marginal people but became predatory on them forcing them to these marginal service providers as the better option.
 
So I just learned that the AOC parody account has been banned :(. Their justification is that people would mistake it for the real AOC (lol) despite there being "parody" in the account name. Load of bullshit, parody accounts aren't forbidden but Twitter just makes up random rules and chooses to apply their own policies when they feel like it (i.e. on conservative targets only).

The best “YouTube experiment” I’ve seen is some guy walking around your usual liberal university campus and 100% said the green new deal was great and socialism was great blah blah blah.....then the guys asks them if they would redistribute their gpa and help out those with lower gpas.......complete 180 from these people. “No I worked too hard for my gpa”...”no I lost too much sleep over my gpa” haha ahhhh the real world

Right wing media WAS using the tweets from the account to spread misinformation about her. Either because they are stupid as hell or they intentionally dishonest.

I like in this thread how I been told over and over how intelligent AOC is. But I also see all the dumb things she says in her own words, not taken out of context but in her actual words lol.

I actually think she is looked at as a template for the future of politics by a lot more people than Sarah Palin. A lot of righties liked Palin quite a bit, but I didn't see an acceptance of her as the next big thing in the same way. A lot of young people around my campus are treating her like the future of politics, and they're future educators and the intellectual elite.

But, who knows. I wasn't exactly hanging around many trailer parks when Palin was popular.

AOC still has her account up and she's stupid and dishonest.
Her latest is claiming a HIV prevention drug is $8 a month in Australia and $1800 a month in the US. Fact is Australia pays an annual subsidy of $10,000 per patient for the drug. So AOC is either blatantly lying or she totally ignorant. My money is on both.
