Although most guys agree that Bisping is not the among the greatest fighters of all time, he really is the fighter that made the most of his career with what he had.

- Top 3 highest disclosed pay in UFC history.
- Champ in all the orgs he fought in
- Undefeated at LHW, until a controversial loss to Rashad, that went to become LHW champ.
- Defending mw champ.
- Fighter of the year 2017, after having one of the most impressive 8 months in mw or maybe even mma history. (2 x top 5 p4p fighters, winning aufc belt, and defending it vs an MMA legend in just 8 months).
- One of the most talked about figures in mma history.
- A commentator and popular show host.
- Most UFC wins in history.
- A foreigner that came into an american mma org and really had great success.
- First european TUF winner.
- Finishing 20 of his 30 mma wins.
- A bad eye, but still managed to be competitive among the top 15 mws at almost 40.

I think we will see movies about the Brittish Cinderella man!

comparing him to James Braddock is a joke James defended his title against the #1 contender

I was on his side even when most people just spammed hendo .gifs when his name came up -- but seeing how selfishly he acted when he became champ soured his legacy for me. Two cherrypicked fights and he never wanted to fight a legitimate contender. Thank GSP that his reign was not very long.

The most telling thing is how hungry he was to fight AFTER he lost the belt.

I hope he at least stays on with the UFC tonight crew and other broadcast duties

Let himself down when he became champ

Badass up until that point

So you think he should have fought for Honor and Glory, even when he got the chance to earn big money fighting bigger names? I am sorry to say, but that is not how life works. Every fighter from MM to Stipe would much rather accept a fight with GSP or Conor than any no 1 contender.

Never liked him.

He was handed so many easy opponents when the ufc was desperate to gain a UK audience.

The best thing he ever achieved was that KO of rockhold. Admittedly that is an impressive feat so good for him, but I am not sad to see him go.

His subsequent ducking and cherry picking robbed me of any respect I gained from his title win

Thank you Bisping. Vitor didnt deserve that ass whooping. If youre losing your eyes you should get out. Bisping was a legend though, tougher than a two dollar steak

WELL... Braddock sure got a lot of heat for avoiding Schmeling because Joe Louis was a higher paid fight (and supposedly an easier fight at the time)...

Getting ktfo that bad can really mess with your mind. People disrespect Bisping for fighting Henderson but he was probably more freaked out about fighting him again than anyone else. He might have thought he had a better chance of winning than a Rockhold rematch but acting like it was an easy fight for him is ridiculous.

Not the most likeable guy in MMA.

Given a lot of gimme fights early in the UFC and still got dropped by the likes of a washed up Elvis Sinosic.

He also ditched the guys who bank rolled his early career. A lot of guys could make it to the UFC if they could give up work and train full time.

Good luck to him and I hope he finds financial security post UFC, I’m not sure how many hits his podcast gets.

he had to keep the belt out of the Nazi's hands Schemeling really didn't do much after the Louis win other then hold out for a titleshot Louis went and won what 7 or 8 in a row all by KO after his loss to Max to get that titleshot.

Absolutely. I have a signed gloves from he popped in to the old Gracie Barra many years ago..Jesus in fact it's about 9 years ago..
Fellow northern lad who did great things for himself and his family.

Respect was earned the hard way.

Should go down as one of the top MW of all time.

And he will be missed. One way or the other...
Cheers count and good luck.

Schmeling was the suppoosedly better boxer at the time, and the no 1 contender. The fight was ready and done, but Braddock claimed he pulled out for money. The nazi story is something made up at a later stage when we saw how the war turned out, and it would mean Braddock was pretty sure he would lose..

I am not trying to discredit Braddock. This is these guys job. They fight for money first, not honor and glory. Bisping is very comparable with Braddock.

Win lose or draw war the count.

Can’t wait to see a movie about him!!
