English is not my first language, but it seems obvious why.
It just stuck in time, that's it.
Many expressions, not only in English, sound extremely stupid if you think about it. Or have no logic at all.
But you cannot get rid of them.
People use them, you like it or not.
 
I already said it before, and I'll say it again. They should have given it to Mark Coleman after saving his family by running into a goddamn burning house.


So right after Max Ko's JG in the last 10 seconds at UFC 300. Max takes the BMF belt, goes into the crowd, and gives it to Coleman as a surprise, who was in attendance at the event. You get an absolute epic moment for 300 and there was no more graceful way to retire a damn bogus belt.
