The belt doesn't really mean much anymore in most cases

{<huh}

  • Islam got a title shot without a single top 5 win.
  • He then got to defend against a 145lber in their first 155lb fight.
  • Now he's rematching the guy he originally fought for the belt a year later.
Wtf are you talking about?

Get real, a win over Volk and Charles are the two most impressive wins a fighter could have right now outside of Gaethje.

Volk isn't just a "145er", he's the p4p baby.

It means a hell of a lot less than it used to, that's for sure.

Generally if your fighting for a belt your damn good anyway, because you have to fight your way there. But it's clear the UFC made the road much easier for certain guys.

TS made an entire thread bitching about the belt not meaning much because anybody can get a title shot if the UFC wants them too and then praised Islam who himself benefitted from that and is similarly reigning as champion.

It's a pretty obvious double standard.

The belt would mean more if it had a dick slot for pleasure and wearing stability

Jones only went up to HW after Ngannou left for more money.

People keep saying this, and it's just not true. Jones worked for three years to naturally bulk up to fit into the heavyweight division. He was in contract talks for months. And then, as soon as Ngannou left, he had a fight. To me that means that Ngannou was the one holding up things, not Jones.

Rankings are all made up. You are either a top fighter or you are not. Islam proved he was the best fighter in the division when he dropped and subbed Oliveira.

You say 145er like its a chump, he fought VOLK, who is one the best fighters in the sport.

What does who he is rematching have to do anything? He doesn't make the match ups. Anyone with fight knowledge knows the Dustin and Justin never quite pull it off in title fights, and guys like Islam and Charles have shown they are a step above them.
Jones worked for three years to naturally bulk up to fit into the heavyweight division.

Jones has never done anything natural in his life. Jones has said a lot of things. It doesn't take 3 years to put on 25 pounds, half of it being fat. He was stalling and waiting for the right fight to come back to. He even said he is glad he didn't have to fight Ngannou.

Do you believe in the easter bunny?

I gotta agree with this here.

It seems like it is coming to a head. O'Malley getting a title shot with 0 legit wins against the top 15 was lame (props for beating Aljo though).

It seems like everyone hates the idea of Izzy getting ANOTHER rematch for the belt.

He beat Yan. Was the UFC supposed to go "nah, wasn't a legit win, lots of sherdogges thought you lost - no title shot for you!". Now, that would have been some bullshit, as opposed to O'malley getting a title shot, which was perfectly fine.

Sean didnt even think he won the fight.

Is this Dana White? Get off Sherdog you clown shoed Goof

It's a moment in an era where a lot of older fighters are retiring or on their way out, while the newer guys are just building their base.
Happens once a decade in this sport
I hope your right but really when did this happen before?
