The Anime and Manga Thread v48

Roll Over and Die was a bit more enjoyable than what I was expecting. It's your typical story of the protagonist gets kicked out of a party but turns out that he/she was the MVP of the party but what sets this apart was it had a darker tone and the storytelling was better executed. I'm also intrigued how the main character's powers work since she has the "reverse affinity" meaning harmful effects only boost her abilities. Anyway, it's just the first episode, it could go downhill over the next few episodes.

Just read that it's yuri. I will still give it a shot. This reverse affinity sounds like it turns negative status effects(curses, poison, etc.) into buffs. Have you seen Unlimited Gacha last season? Another mc getting killed out of the party revenge series.

Yeah. I've watched a lot of kicked-out-of-the-party anime for the past few years but Unlimited Gacha stood out because of the high quality animation. I was ready to pronounce it as a hidden gem early on but I was gradually disappointed by its execution. The main character's years-in-the-making revenge plot is so laughably basic and the action gets boring after a while because the MC and his team are so OP. Overall I like Unlimited Gacha enough but it's not that good (except for the amazing animation).

My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's

It's another isekai story but I enjoyed it. I think it's one of the low key gems from last anime season. The artwork reminded of me a lot of the 90s style of anime. The animation is really good. I was concerned initially that this was going to be a boys love but thankfully it pivoted out of that direction. The action sequence is carefully thought out which I appreciated. Sometimes there was too much talking and moping near the end though.

Do you have any idea the amount of shit I had to crawl to so I could get to the last 3 episodes!? I do understand them trying to paint a world where humans were basically pocket pussy for elves but 1st episode and the last 3 were the only one worth watching.

NGL, I dropped it at episode 7 or something.

What's a good mecha anime on Disney+/HULU, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Paramount+, HBO Max?
