The Anime and Manga Thread v47

One piece has been on a downward spiral since the 2 year time skip. But the newest Egghead saga seems pretty interesting. One Piece is best in manga form. The anime special effects is too overdone imo.
I agree until Wano, which I thought was excellent. Also, strong disagree on the manga vs, anime debate there. So much easier to follow the action on the anime for me.

Wano was a letdown for me. Oda said the Wano arc was going to be more epic than Marineford so I have high expectations on it. Major letdown imo.

It's good? I kinda dropped it when the kid wouldn't stop shouting.

It gets better and better. Looks like they also stopped inserting fillers at some point so that also helped big time. I dropped it around the witch saga but after that is when I would argue the real story starts to come out.

Weird week.

New anime based on one of my favorite game series:

Can't wait for this to finish so I can binge it. I'm glad they are doing a side story but at the same time I would have loved an anime based on the games as well.

@Cole train
New season of Vinland Saga is out on Netflix!

Damn had no idea that was coming out already. I just assumed it would be a long time until we got this.

Anyone remember an anime series awhile back about a boy who lives on a planet or land or something that'a deserted and there's a giant whale swimming in the sand and the boy is super strong

then he meets a girl and he helps her

the ending outro of an episode is a girl walking on the beach and you can only see her legs

Dune?

Anybody knows when we get next Baki season?

New potentially great anime series based off episode 1:

Kaina of the Great Snow Sea and Giant Beasts of Ars.

Wow how did I miss Vinland saga. This is great. Making my Norwegian blood pump

I just googled that whole run on sentence and one of the first things I got was "Children of the Whales"

"Synopsis
In a world covered by an endless sea of sand, there sails an island known as the Mud Whale. In its interior lies an ancient town, where the majority of its inhabitants are said to be "Marked," a double-edged trait that grants them supernatural abilities at the cost of an untimely death. Chakuro is the village archivist; young and curious, he spends his time documenting the discovery of newfound islands. But each one is like the rest—abandoned save for the remnants of those who lived there long ago

For the first time in six months, another island crosses the horizon, so Chakuro and his friends join the scouting group. During the expedition, they find vestiges of an archaic civilization. And inside one of its crumbling remains, Chakuro discovers a girl who will change his destiny and the world inside the Mud Whale as he knows it."

Does that sound like it?

Caught up on Chainsaw man and it was great. I normally hate when anime gets all perverted but it was done well in this anime.

Caught up on my hero as well and that first half was so damn good. Best they've done in a long time. They really let all the characters shine although Bakugo was surprisingly left out this time around. They hinted at him doing something special but it just never manifested into anything when it mattered.

Blue Giant is an excellent manga. Highly recommended read.

Interestingly, even if I did watch anime (which I don't) I would still be skipping this one. I just don't like jazz music. And reading the manga means I don't have to listen to it. The art is evocative enough that it's still a really interesting read, and the story doesn't rely on outside knowledge to still enjoy.
